Electro-Harmonix spins out a budget take on the Interfax HP-1 Harmonic Percolator - the EHX Percolator - with 2 extra controls

I’m not sure we need yet another Percolator out there, we have plenty of options already. While the price here is undoubtedly highly attractive - which cannot be said of its artwork! Not only does it have faux printed-on Dymo style labels, but they’re designed to look all out of alignment - to indicate that those labels were applied by a low-skilled employee. This is overall a familiar trope, but the higgledy-piggledy nature of that arrangement really sets off my OCD!

I have several great examples of the Harmonic Percolator - and despite my misgivings about the artwork of the EHX Percolator - I will still probably spring for one - the price is entirely conducive towards that!

We essentially have a further Bias control - to better adjust the output profile, and we have a Drive / Fuzz toggle-switch which is presumably Gain Range / Structure.

Controls - Balance (Volume), Harmonics (Gain / Fuzz), Bias (Character / Texture), Gain Range : Drive / Fuzz.

Apart from the throw-away artwork, there is much to like here.

These should be widely available already in the USA - for just $99, and presumably £99 and equivalent this side of the pond in a few weeks. I’ve complained about it before - but EHX and MXR pedals always seem to take too long to reach the heart of civilisation!

I will likely pick one up sometime during the month of July!
