There has been little in the way of amp tube innovation since the Korg NuTube - which was actually a new spin on a rather older mini fluorescent tube methodology. One of the side-effect with that is that fluorescent tubes create quite a lot of additional noise - which then needs to be filtered out. None of those NuTube applications particularly worked out - at least not for me. I tried several NuTube pedals - which all seemed to have a rather odd / slightly muffled top end!
