I own a number of PLL types - the slightly synthy harmonizing fuzz - and CopperSound has miniaturised that brilliantly. My favourite PLL’s are the Tark Audio Squidink, and the Beetronics Swarm - which are much simplified from the original Schumann PLL.

And this Ion is a simpler version still. Just one Fuzz (intensity) knob, and then a 3-way Mode / Frequency Selector :

• UP : High-frequency resonance; maximum filter sensitivity for sizzling, cosmic lift-off.
• MIDDLE : Balanced sensitivity;

CopperSound has a new version of hits FoxCatcher BluesBreaker type - now in V2 Compact Edition - minus the Boost from the V1 edition.

There are significant changes to the control topology - where we have lost the Nature control from the V1 - but gain a new 3-way Gain Switch, and 3-way Shape / Bass control, Those actually give you a life more overall granularity - where the Gain Switch - kind of replaces the Boost from the original.

I of course much prefer compact formats - but the jury’...

The final arrangement for the year - all the pedals that impressed the most!

This has long been my favourite octave pedal - which took me 6 months to chase down originally - as they first weren’t available for overseas purchase, and then were in very short supply.

The Triplegraph has an amazingly robust construction - beautifully engineered - and a pedal that gets daily use from me! I would like to see some enhancements to the format - so we get more DigiTech Whammy / Boss S-Bend functionality here also - so we can set the Rise and Fall Time, and select additional ...

I covered the very first CopperSound Mini pedal - the V1 Gravity Bomb Boost all the way back in 2017 as part of my Best Mini Boost Pedals overview then. Coppersound then released an updated V2 Gravity Bomb alongside a brand new Renegade Silicon 2-Transistor Fuzz - back in October of last year.

So it’s about time for another round of ’12 Degrees of Saturation’ - featuring an updated selection and including most of the more recently released notable Mini Gain Pedals. Please note that as before - this is something of a Grey Science with simply approximated best fit positioning - as all those pedals have slightly different gain ranges, and certain ones within each selection / category can have vastly more extended range than others - and often cover more than one of the categories.

^ 2022 Final Arrangement - December

So the time has come again to to the final reckoning of the layout and composition of this year’s ultimate pedal chain arrangement. I’ve introduced a new ’⚓’ symbol into the visual - which indicates those Slots / Pedals that are unchanged from last year’s Class of 2021 arrangement. That element really is testament to how much has changed between years. It’s also indicative of how much I love those particular pedals - and pretty much find them ...

I’m the proud owner of the previous version of this - the Passive V1 Edition with simple Polarity Switch. I was a touch surprised when the original Telegraph was discontinued - but I understand why that happened now.

Coppersound have taken all the engineering R&D and learning from their massive Tripplegraph success and incorporated that in their Telegraph pedal - which is much more robust now.

Those engineering improvements alone were considered insufficient for a new launch - so ...

2021 was another very significant year for me - and one that signals that I probably need to slow down now - as I picked up well over 200 new pedals during the year - which really is excessive. Storage is starting to become an issue - and I will need to be a lot more prudent and strategic in my acquisitions next year!

So more than 200 new ones, and in fact 25 slots were switches up during the year - where only 12 were totally untouched and unchanged. A slew of new gain pedals as always - ...
