So back in 2019 - Reverb.com coordinated Black Friday Limited Blacked Out Editions across 17 Brands and 19 Pedals - and by and large it was a resounding success - a lot of those sold out very quickly - and overall pretty much every special pedal maid was sold in fairly short order.
I always thought it a little surprising that this exercise wasn’t repeated more often as I kind of expected it to be an annual or biennial thing following on from the 2019 event. While we’ve had to wait 4 years ...

So far OBNE has given us the BL-44 Reverse Effect, BL-82 Chorusing Delay, and BL-37 Ethereal Reverb - all based on the same circuit topology and enclosure format. Its newest BL-52 Phase Repeater is actually its second of that type after its 2018 ’Dweller’ pedal - where a Phase Repeater is defined as a sort of Multi-FX - which can sound like a Phaser, Delay, or Reverb depending on a single knob’s relative position (or Slider as is the case here).
The BL-52 Phase Repeater’s Clock control sets...

There are a number of pedals out there which combine 2 or more drive voicings, but none that I can think of which are quite as distinct as this. Being a sort of 3-Channel Overdrive / Distortion - actually 2 Overdrives and 1 Distortion which you can route independently or all-together in parallel arrangement.
And to make this ever more expressive and distinct - 2 of those channels have delays attached to them. The middle Green soft and hard clipping Overdrive is actually the mellowest, ...

People should be fairly familiar with the common 4-Controls layout of OBNE’s BL Clock Slider Series by now - there the central control is a Slider - which allows you to manipulate the core Clock Speed / Frequency which impacts most significantly on the character of the sound generated.
The only mystery real is the source and order of the 2 latter digits - where the first pedal released was the BL-44 Reverse, then we jumped all the way up to the BL-82 Chorus, while now we’re numerically back...

OBNE are re-purposing the BL-44 Reverse Effector format to some degree here - both pedals are delay-line related and with near identical looking topologies - here with dual delay lines that you mostly manipulate with the Clock Slider. The 4th control of the BL-82 is a Feedback / Intensity knob versus the Speed knob of the BL-44.
The two delay lines are modulated by opposite synchronized LFOs, and are combined in parallel with the timing of the delay lines, as well as the speed and depth of ...

With me being a pedal aficionado first and foremost - that’s obviously my main area of focus for this imminent show and the above pedal brand visual - while there is an equal amount of killer Synth brands present too - as listed below.
This London Synth & Pedal Expo is my good friend Paolo De Gregorio’s first UK Event - who always has a fantastic multi-brand Stompbox Exhibit Booth at the NAMM Shows - and has organised a series of events for several years now throughout the North ...

^ 2022 Final Arrangement - December
So the time has come again to to the final reckoning of the layout and composition of this year’s ultimate pedal chain arrangement. I’ve introduced a new ’⚓’ symbol into the visual - which indicates those Slots / Pedals that are unchanged from last year’s Class of 2021 arrangement. That element really is testament to how much has changed between years. It’s also indicative of how much I love those particular pedals - and pretty much find them ...

As I’ve just done all the category overviews / best of genre rundowns - you can refer to those for all the individual pedal details - most have full reviews on this site too - here I will simply lay down the longlist - and explain why I picked those top 3 here - so just the details for the 3 overall winners!
I normally try to single out around 40 each year in the final overview - but it also depends on how many can fit the ’jigsaw’ of the visual.
There were 4 pedals in the full longlist...
