Following in the wake of the very well received Noble Screamer (ODR-1 + TS808), and Muse Driver (AT / RK Modded BD-2), we now get 3 more in the same series - all at once.
The Blues Order covers Marshall Blues Breaker and Fulltone OCD voicings, the Angry Orange has EHX Civil War Muff and Boss DS-1 Distortion flavours, and the Super Rodent mixes up the Boss SD-1 Super OverDrive with ProCo Rat Distortion.
As before you get to mix or match the Tone Stack and Clipping Character of each ...
In my recent review of the Kernom Moho Magmatic Fuzz - I already lauded it to the high rafters as the greatest Multi-Fuzz pedal ever created. It’s the perfect tool for proper fuzz fans - and in particular for those who have fully mastered the relatively tricky Zvex Fuzz Factory and similar - all those should get along with the Moho fabulously. Newbie fuzz fans may find the device a little tricky to dial in - as every knob impacts the texture and tonality of the output - so pretty much all 6 ...
I’m delighted to report that my friend and yours Vitalii Bobrov - of Drunk Beaver fame - at last has a proper website / webstore for his pedals - DRUNK-BEAVER.ROCKS - where his full current range of 19 pedals can be purchased - of course when in stock.
All these pedals are made in relatively small batches (20 or so at a time) and when there is high demand as there often is - then stock clears out very quickly and then there is typically a wait of around 3-4 weeks before more stock is ready ...
I’ve been a huge fan of the Zander Circuitry Compact Series - since the Siclone Silicon Chaos Initiator Fuzz first appeared in late 2020. Zander’s Alex Millar has long intended to further refine and iterate those pedals - and that’s what he’s been working on over the last year or so - where the newly revised range launched on the 1st of this month.
There used to be 9 pedals in the range - where I have 8 of those - or all bar the Sono Bass Fuzz & Preamp. In fact the Sono, Siclone Fuzz, ...
And so to what is often my favourite category - the many wonderful flavours of fuzz - and we have some hugely innovative pedals in the selection this year - one of these may even be my pedal of the year!
So there are 24 in this year’s selection - where I’m just missing the Collision Devices TARS, Fender Shields Blender, JAM Pedals Octaurus, KMA Machines Mandrake, Reeves Electro Facet IZ, and Unsound Circuitry Kato Glitch Fuzz - where I will attempt to add most of those to the reference ...
So this post is a little academic in some ways as many of these are already sold out - so more to celebrate these pedals’ existence rather than any sort of promotion really. Only 10 of the Halloween Bat, and then 5 of each of the other varieties were made - while I think Vitalii could have made a lot more.
There’s always some cool seasonal limited / special editions at this time of year - I’ve already posted up the excellent TWA Octoverdrive - and I shared JAM Pedals brilliant custom ...
I probably should have tackled Tru-Fi a little sooner - where it hasn’t featured too heavily on this site yet - I always need to do a certain amount of due diligence before I do one of my brand features - and frequently there needs to be some sort of trigger event or catalyst required to set things off - which on this occasion was the purple Ghost Vibe Uni-Vibe - where I have one of those en-route to me as I write this - I will likely receive that on the same day this goes live. So that will be...
So a follower on Instagram asked me to do a piece on which pedals had Sweepable mids - meaning really semi-parametric mids - with one control for Mids Frequency, and another to Cut/Boost that Frequency.
I thought there were a lot more than those that I finally uncovered. It’s mostly distortion pedals that have 3-Band EQs, and so it stands to reason - that it’s mostly distortion pedals that have parametric mids too.
While there is also a now long discontinued series - by Big Tone Music ...
I’ve been meaning to post this one for a while - where I was waiting for a demo of the new Thunderclap for the longest time - and I missed it when it finally materialised. We now have decent demos for all these 3 variants. Note that the 2 Stroke Beaver is also branded as Shelob’s Lair - it’s exactly the same circuit - just with a different artwork!
What we have here are in effect killer extended range variants of 3 magnificent and celebrated legendary pedals - the Boss HM-2 Heavy Metal, the...
So this was truly a full-throttle month - with so much activity this month and a really busy NAMM release schedule. We also had a couple of JHS Faux Hist this month - some real and some not so much.
The month saw my most popular article ever on Instagram - the Iconic Pickup one - with currently 17.6K likes - still growing as the number of followers surpassed 8,000. It’s been a really grad graft slowly making my way up that slope - but some of the recent Guitar Elements posts have really ...
