Hearty congratulations to showrunner Jason Hunt for the most successful show day to date - with 3,000 visitors through the doors on the Saturday alone! The queue was already massive and nearly the whole length of the building when I arrived at 09:30.
It’s always good to attend on the first day - especially if you want to be sure of grabbing the best looking of the new releases - and particularly the one-offs on the Hello Sailor Effects stand!
This was another great show for me - with ...
The month started off strong with the unique ThorpyFX and Origin Effects Thorigin Folked Up Fuzz April Fool’s - but genuine product collaboration. The NAMM teased DigiTech HammerOn finally landed, and we saw the release of the stunning ThorpyFX Purple Edition The Dane Drive + Boost.
I introduced the Butterfly Effects Dobbo Granular Playground - whose second batch should be out be the ned of next month - that is a major target for me!
I also visited Reeves Electro on the 10th - while ...
Back in August of last year Thorpy and Andertons collaborated on a vintage-inspired Anniversary pedal in an Andertons Sparkle Blue Enclosure - which was a limited run of only 200 pedals - and only available direct from Andertons.
The Tremolo side was designed by Dan Coggins when he was just a 14 year old, while the MKI Fuzz Side is another Thorpy classic Fuzz - and a kind of teaser / preview for the eventual Silicon Boneyard Edition - whenever that gets released!
Both circuits are ...
Another totally mad month for sure - loaded with frenetic activity and peppered with highs as well as crushing disappointments. The first give-away for GPX didn’t quite hit the highs I expected (said give-away closes tonight at 23:59 BST). And there are some weird gaps in the entrants’ home countries - certainly no shortage from the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, or much of mainland Europe. I’m active in a lot more countries than have so far entered the give-away, so I don’t fully understand why ...
Hopefully I’ve done enough over the last 4 Mondays - to fully convince you of the merits and prowess of the ThorpyFX Heavy Water 3-in-1 Boost.
You have just 2 remaining days to enter, as the Give-away Entry-Form will disappear at 23:59 BST Tomorrow!
This give-away has one first prize of said featured pedal (one of a pair - I have the other on my board!), GPX-embroidered Cap, and GPX Custom Edition of the Hawk ToneBird 7 Guitar Pick, There are also 3 x runner-up prizes of Cap & Pick...
So right at the end of last month Rob Chapman posted up a YouTube video of a rundown of his all-time favourite guitar pedals. He initially states he’s going to name his 10 most favoured ones - but goes on to mention 20 - which I’ve fully included here.
Rob has a great ear for tone - as countless of his own and Anderton’s videos have proven time and time again. And I really love his everyman approach to guitar gear. I’ve encountered him in person 2 or 3 times now over the years - and he’s ...
It was evident fairly early on - that 2021 would be a significant year for Phasers, and as I kept adding them to my collection that kind of underlined the pertinence of those sentiments. So I’ve rounded up most of the usual suspects - and as many as I could comfortably fit into a visual - or 16 candidates - I may well add a few more as bonus rounds, and do note that the PastFX Foot Phaser Deluxe is from very late last year (December 29) which totally makes it eligible for this selection, which ...
I originally prepared this article ahead of the arrival of my own supposed unit of Buffalo FX Reticon Flanger back in July of this year. Everyone now knows the story of how all but 20 or so failed to materialise of that 100 unit limited series run. The long and the short of it being that Mr Buffalo - one Steven Painter suddenly took sick right in the midst of the production run - and supposedly from the resulting impact was unable to do any physical activity once he contracted said condition. ...
I’ve already largely decided what new pedals I will be targeting this year (that I know of!) - following on from the various reveals and announcements made over the last week, and other projects I’m aware of and various themes I will be pursuing in 2020.
First of all to explain the above visual - this features and extrapolation of my current pedal-chain - with the NAMM legend in front of various new / newish pedals - Green means already acquired - or at least already transactioned (yes you ...
Each year I like to do a comparison of where my current thinking is ahead of the Winter NAMM Show versus shortly after I have witnessed all the new innovations for the year and I have finalised my annual target list. The Chain already features several pedals that will be properly featured at NAMM for the first time - and I’m still waiting for Pete Thorne’s demo video of the Sinvertek N5+ Drive so I can publish my findings on that excellent pedal.
My most recent new arrival is my recently ...
