PastFX unleashes 3 killer extended range evolutions and enhancements of the EHX OpAmp Muff, Maestro RM-1B Ring Modulator, and the Boss DS-1 Distortion

This is based on a very early version of the DS-1 and features the same obsolete / rare Toshiba TA7136AP OpAmp and 1S1588 Silicon Diodes.

By a strange coincidence - I have more than a dozen different variants of Boss DS-1's - most of the Boss Editions - anniversary and limited edition. various modded ones, and a handful of smart evolutions - which this pedal joins. There will be a later 4 of a Kind article - featured 4 extended range takes of the DS-1 - I've covered most of my core Boss DS-1 varieties on this site already!

Obviously this is another vastly extended variety with all manner of cool Mods - exactly how I like it. More about this pedal - coming up real soon!

This is one of the things that PastFX does pretty much better than anyone else - improving and miniaturising massively over-sized vintage effects. In this case the Maestro RM-1B Ring Modulator - as favoured by Jeff Beck and Deep Purple's Jon Lord, and as featured on Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid' guitar solo, ZZ Top's 'Cheap Sunglasses' and incredibly on South Park's end credits too!

This PastFX Ring Modulator shrinks that RM-1B circuit down and adds a number of cool mods to it for more granularity, versatility, and ease of use.

I'm not usually a fan of Ring Modulation - but there's something pretty cool about this one! And it may just be the one to win me over! This is probably the category I have the least number of variants for - perhaps this one will encourage me to look more closely into this category!

Alas no demo yet for this cool take on a 1978 OpAmp Muff - with all the smart extras onboard.

In my reference collection - the Big Muff category has the most variants to date - or somewhere between 130 and 140 units - mostly Triangle, Ram's Head, and Green Russian types. I have only around a dozen OpAmp Muff  types - there just aren't that many interesting OpAmp Muff takes out there - not compared to the more obvious Big Muff variants. I'm always happy to redress the balance!

I've already decided to replace the knobs on this with blue metallic equivalents of those DM-1510 types. I was able to get them delivered locally - pretty much overnight, and I feel it's going to further relevant this pedal.

Obviously I.C. Mufnstuf borrows its naming convention somewhat from cult late 60's children's television programme - H.R. Pufnstuf - which somewhat passed me by until fairly recent times!

I always have space for another great Big Muff, and I don't have too many of the OpAmp variety so far - so this is for sure a great catch for me!
