I have a real soft spot for Germanium Overdrives and Preamps, of which this is the latter. This typically takes you into fuzzy-drive territory - and yields superiors harmonics and textures.
The Seward Park Maravilla benefits from an expansive control technology - which gives you powerful shaping over your output.
Controls - Loud (Master Output), Tone, Mid, Air (Presence), Pre Gain, Post Gain.
Pre and Post are independent Gain controls into each of the Germanium stages. Stack them for harmonic complexity. And adjust Post to saturate the onboard Audio Transformer for unique and dynamic clipping.
Air is a Presence-style control that adds openness and definition, and makes the circuit ’breathe’ and open up further at higher settings.
The text description notes the use of Vintage Germanium Transistors - but doesn’t specifically name the exact variants. The added Audio Transformer gives it really expansive range and improved dynamics.
This seems exactly the kind of pedal I gravitate towards, and it’s straight down on my acquisitions / wishlist - albeit I’ve still to assign it a priority.
Really cool pedal though!
Available for $180 on the Seward Park Electric Webstore.
I will certainly be coming for one of these at some stage!
