Solar Guitars releases the super-low latency Chug Capo Pitch-Shifter

I’ve been pretty good at supporting the various Solar Chug Pedal releases - and this is the 5th in that line - feted to have the lowest tracking / shift latency of any current pitch-shifter. I recently covered the Klowra Dive Drop-Shifter - where that is supposed to also have the lowest latency - of around  8 ms, where the Klowra Vein is measured at 10-12ms, Boss’s XS-1 is measured at 13-14ms, Digitech Drop is at 12-17ms, and the EHX Pitch Fork is supposedly 16 to 22ms.

Solar doesn’t mention the exact figure, while if its claims are accurate it is at or near the same 8ms value as the Klowra Dive. For some reason Drop-Shifters / Down-Tuners - that is to say the Down-Shift direction - seem to deliver lower latency than the pitch-up.

This is a fairly straightforward pedal with just 4 onboard controls - Left and Right Arrows - which allow you to set -12 to +12 Semitones. Then two push-button switches - which light up blue on the screen, but then also impact in a colour change on the main pilot LED. With Mix applied - the LED changes to Blue to signify 50% Dry Mixed in, while the Right button is a single Fav / Favourite Preset - which results in the main LED changing to Green.

It couldn’t be easier to operate, and obviously has advanced electronics onboard as the pedal is relatively high-priced at $249, where the previous Chug pedals range from $129 to $199.

The Solar Chug Capo Pitch Shifter is available right now from the Solar Guitars Webstore. It’s a very cool looking device for sure - while it does have stiff competition in that category - but possibly nothing that quite matches this degree of latency or sharp looks of this one!
