When I first visited Denmark Street in the Mid 80’s - both sides of the row were all fully bustling Musical Instrument Shops - mostly guitar-related. I bought my first guitar here - a black gloss Ibanez RG440 Roadstar II Deluxe back in late 1985 - around my 16th birthday. It was a brand new instrument - but I can’t recall what I paid for it, or which shop I bought it from - it was on the North side of the street for sure. While for a period I was crossing the street back and forth in ...
Young Swiss designers Eric and Beni - aka ebbe design have innovated an incredibly smart infinitely expandable Magnetic Modular Pedalboard system, which makes excellent use of presumably Neodymium magnets. While there is some involvement with pedal tape - but like everything else here - that is ingeniously executed too - as we shall see!
At the core you have 2 sizes of boards - designated as ’_ma’ and ’o_ma’ which you can quickly snap together to expand in every direction. On the top-side -...
At one stage there was a 50/50 chance as to whether I would make the show - as there were significant disruptions on the Liverpool Street to Norwich line - which meant a bus replacement service between Colchester and Ipswich. Some of the journey times quoted were up to 4 and a 1/2 hours each way! In the end the door-to-door was closer to 3 hours in total! The journey up including the coach was actually more fun that the journey back via Cambridge. Cambridge has obviously sinned grievously as ...
There’s been quite a lot of nonsense spouted and written about this recent legal skirmish - which amounts to massive judicial and jurisdictional overreach by Fender’s European Lawyers Bird & Bird.
’Standing, Default Judgement and Jurisdiction’
Essentially Fender won a Regional Dusseldorf court case against a Chinese Importer of essentially Counterfeit Stratocaster Guitars. Said entity had no corporate assets in Europe, failed to turn up to court, and Fender was awarded a win by default ...
Another fantastic show in an amazing venue - and the weather gods definitely smiled on us!
Congratulations to Ross on another supremely smooth show - wish that it’s duration could be a little more extended - as it’s a struggle to get around all the stands in the time available.
This year’s show was a little beset by fall-outs - as initially Boss and HiWatt withdrew from the roster - which was great news for my friends Ian from Gigahearts and Stephen from Northern Stompboxes - as those were ...
One month after The Guitar Show we’re back in ’Birmingham’ again for a brand new venture at a brilliant venue - within walking distance of Birmingham’s New Street Station - while I will probably take a taxi - depending on prevailing weather conditions of course.
Noise Maker Market is at Centrala, Unit 4 Minverva Works, 158 Fazeley Street. Birmingham, B5 5RT.
It takes place on Sunday March 29th, and runs from 11:00 to 18:00 - with the show taking place on the first floor, where there is ...
I believe this is the first time I’ve met Paolo’s lovely partner Nadège - and it’s her birthday today when this article goes live - so let’s all wish her well!
Nadége was on the door for most of the two days, and missed out on Sunday Roast - which Paolo and I had on the second day. I decided that Nadège and Paolo deserved to be this year’s covers stars - they put so much work into this event - to make sure it runs flawlessly smoothly - and the easy ambience and vibe of the event is a ...
I’m sorry I’m a little late with this preview - I’ve been waiting for the roster to be finalised - which it mostly is now - there’s just a few brands requiring further clarification - while the roster is mostly there now!
This show takes place at my favourite canal-side location - and is particularly spectacular on a sunny day. Hackney Wick is essentially an artist community now - with around 250 Artis’s ateliers, studios and workshops - leading to a lot of wall art in the area.
We are ...
