May has been a little bit of strange month - lots of delays really, and waiting for pedals to land.
As inevitably happens most months - much was delayed this month, and I was unable to complete some of the larger articles - they will need to wait until next month, there’s certainly lots of projects in progress. Where new and imminent arrivals kind of scuppered several intended projects - hopefully they can be completed in June.
The first event I’m attending this month is tomorrow - as a micropub ...
We have the same core format here as the Black Mountain Volume and Roto Echo PT2399 Delay Pedals. This evolves the rotary wheel style of pedals first popularised by Classic Audio and Chase Bliss - especially for their respective Expression Rollers.
Black Mountain has evolved that concept further - with the Freewheel as the core of its pedal designs - with an even more robust and more accessible control wheel. Those pedals are truly precisions honed devices - with exceptional touch and feel....
In many ways this is the most straightforward category with singular award nominees - GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE.
It’s the second smallest category after Distortions - and the one where I own the least number of pedals in proportion to the whole - just 10 out of these 26.
The order pretty much set itself - with the Cornerstone Nucleo being the clear winner from the start. I’m so impressed with every aspect of that pedal - it’s a perfect Trifecta of Design, Feaures and Playability - pretty ...
Another super busy month - where the lack of a holiday is really starting to impact my wellbeing - as I’m about as shattered and burned out as is possible without going entirely into meltdown - I’m teetering on the edge!
Here follow the highlights of the month - which I normally try to limit to around 10 elements - but stand at 12 for September. No show or onside attendances this month - while plenty of other activities - and some killer releases of course!
So this is essentially a further spin out of Black Mountain’s ’Freewheel’ technology / construction / Mechanism - which first appeared on its Rotary Expression Volume Pedal - which was announced at this year’s NAMM event (January 2025).
Black Mountain’s Freewheel rotary assembly is extremely robust - a really solid piece of industrial engineering that looks like its been made to withstand a lifetime of use - where this is essentially a further evolution of the Expression Wheel mechanism ...
