This is essentially the core of the large 8-controls Mountain Mover Fuzz shrunk down to compact dimensions - but with all the fierce essence retained from the original. The Mountain Mover uniquely combines the core character of a searing sort of Ram’s Head Muff with the added Bloom of a Super-Fuzz. It sound superb, and starts of fierce with even the Gain turned all the way down.

I’m fairly well versed inTraynor Solid State amps from the late 70’ and 80’s - which were much loved by garage punks and garage rockers alike - for those slightly loose, raw and ragged, even scuzzy kind of rock tones. And the lower-gain side of the pedal is in part inspired by the Bluesbreaker - with heaps of brightness in the mix, and with the voice toggle up - delivers a uniquely bright and clangy kind of sound with some real bite to it too. I can’t explain why I’m so late to the Angel Teeth - it’s been on my wishlist for a while (years!). I actively collect evolved and extended range DOD250’s - so this one was always going to be a perfect fit for me. And indeed - I have been meaning to get it for a while - I always expected to pick one of these up at one of the guitar shows - but Gwion’s batch schedule didn’t seem to sync up with my specific pedal-chasing needs.

May has been a little bit of strange month - lots of delays really, and waiting for pedals to land.

As inevitably happens most months - much was delayed this month, and I was unable to complete some of the larger articles - they will need to wait until next month, there’s certainly lots of projects in progress. Where new and imminent arrivals kind of scuppered several intended projects - hopefully they can be completed in June.

This year’s show was a little beset by fall-outs - as initially Boss and HiWatt withdrew from the roster - which was great news for my friends Ian from Gigahearts and Stephen from Northern Stompboxes - as those were ...

We have another great event now for the annual roster - where Adam has done a brilliant job in bringing this all together. Really handy venue too - very close to the centre of Birmingham and New Street Station - and so good for me! I alas forgot to grab a snap of show runner Adam - who was to be everywhere that day - to ensure the smooth running that we witnessed. Noise Maker Market is definitely here to stay!

So it was about time that Doug Tolley, the Chase Bliss UK Ambassador got the cover slot for his own party! It was a momentous occasion in many ways - including the final concert later that evening for his ’Nine is the Level’ band project. Where he gave away the 4 key albums from that project at the show - and I of course picked up a full set. [Oscillations, Crumbs, Remnants, and Traces].

Holy Island Audio’s Gwion makes some incredibly otherworldly circuits. Often in the ’Noise’ camp, but always intriguing and uniquely brilliant. I am determined to do more to support his output - starting with his new Blast Radius Oscillating Fuzz.
