This super-versatile Silicon Fuzz was Sean Pierce Johnson’s favourite new pedal of 2018. With its 8 dials - Fine, Voltage, Tone, Gain, Pre, Feedback, Fat, Vol and 3 toggle switches - Boost, Cut, Comp it can deliver the widest range of Fuzz tones. Alas it’s in super short supply currently and not available yet on Reverb.com! Mexico’s Paradox Effects makes a number of rather appealing effects pedals, and my pick of the bunch is their overdrive/distortion based on the Ampeg V4 amp - the Terran. You get 3-band EQ with parametric mids and Q bandwidth control for a satisfyingly deep and dark tone. Definitely one for consideration. Australia’s Anarchy Audio are becoming a regular guest on this site with a number of really smart Fuzz and Distortion Pedals. I guess I’m a little late to the party on this occasion. In the recent That Pedal Show Pick ’N’ Mix episode this was the Fuzz that really captured my imagination and I had to order one pretty much on the spot - and from Australia of course. Based on the vintage Roland AF-100 Bee Baa Fuzz - this sounds amazing! If you caught the recent Simon McBride That Pedal Show episode - you would have heard the amazing sounding Vahlbruch Octavia Octave Fuzz. A simple pedal with just Boost and Volume dials and a two-way Octave / Fuzz toggle. I already have a few great octave style fuzzes including the new Spaceman Nebula, but this one goes straight onto my wishlist - just sounds awesome! Another pedal that was featured on today’s That Pedal Show - that I really liked the sound of, but I’m still sort of considering comparatively - where it would slot in, and what pedal it would bump or rotate with. Rather unusually for an overdrive this FET PreAmp style overdrive has solely Level and Drive Controls - if you need to shape the tone further you need to user your Guitar’s tone-knob. Yet per Dan and Mick’s demo, this pedal has a wonderful versatile chewy tone. Like many others, my introduction to this pedal was via today’s That Pedal Show pick ’n’ mix episode. It’s a tremendous sounding versatile Fuzz-Face style with controls for Volume, Fuzz, Mids, Feel (Bias), and Bass. I ordered mine pretty much straight after I watched this episode - I believe there’s a 3 week wait on these currently.
