Kevin Wilson’s Capstone Foundation Overdrive is just over a year old now - and I totally missed it the first time around. It’s thanks to a very recent Mike Hermans demo that I’m finally wise to this one. I liked the demo so much that I sprung for one instantly. These are very reasonably priced at just $155, and even better there is a ’SPRING’ promotion on now which takes off a further 15% - for an absolute bargain!
Controls - GAIN, Clipping MOD : Classic Clipping / MOS NPN Germanium Clipping for more grit + fuzz-like saturation, LEVEL, BASS, MID, TREBLE.
The MOD clipping option delivers more grit and harmonics to the the right - and in tandem with that killer 3-band EQ - really works all the angles. The Mid control sits under the Gain one - as it also permeably contributes to more saturation if you crank it up appropriately.
This sounds like a particularly sweet and super versatile transparent overdrive - with expansive shaping and versatile output options.
I was immediately taken by Mike Hermans’s demo - and as a result - one of these is on its way to me now - I hope it lands before the end of the month!
As mentioned - the Capstone Foundation Overdrive is just $155 regular price - now less a 15% SPRING discount. A must buy for me evidently - by my actions. Available right now from the Wilson Effects Webstore - it’s also on the Wilson Effects Reverb.com Store - but you don’t get the discount there - and because of processing fees - the price is a little higher there - go direct if you can!
