So my Wilson Effects Capstone has landed, and it’s exactly as the demos indicate. It can be incredibly subtle and exceptionally transparent. And has an inherent sweetness to its output. You really need to crank it to get it to reveal its more textured side.
With the MOD switch to the left - things remain so transparent and subtle - it’s so incredibly transparent. While I quite like to get some mix of harmonics into the mix - which involves cranking a number of the dials.
Controls - GAIN, Clipping MOD : Classic Clipping / NOS NPN Germanium Clipping for more grit + fuzz-like saturation, LEVEL, BASS, MID, TREBLE.
My preferred settings for a more textured output are MOD to the right, Gain, Bass and Level @ 3 o’c, and both Mids and Treble fully cranked!

Overall this is a really incredibly transparent pedal - one of the most transparent I've experienced. While it does have a textured side too - if you really want that - which I tend to.
Mine arrived really quickly - barely a week for delivery to London.
I paid a total of $167 for mine - direct from the Wilson Effects Webstore - which included a Spring discount, and shipping @ $35.70 - really great value overall.
The pedal has a reversed board on the inside - so it's not easy to see what components contribute towards its sound - including those special Germanium transistors, while it sounds really pristine throughout. Truly - the most transparent of transparent overdrives that I have encountered!
