I recall the original Core Series very well - and picked up those 4 original compacts - per the below original range visual. You had the Edge, ODI, Rail, and ROUS (per bottom row of visual) - where 3 of those have now been revived and enhanced.
Pettyjohn then did a number of additional very limited small batch custom compact editions - which covered most of the same territory as these 11 new editions. I feel a couple of these might be brand new - certainly the Moss X Fuzz. ...
May has been a little bit of strange month - lots of delays really, and waiting for pedals to land.
As inevitably happens most months - much was delayed this month, and I was unable to complete some of the larger articles - they will need to wait until next month, there’s certainly lots of projects in progress. Where new and imminent arrivals kind of scuppered several intended projects - hopefully they can be completed in June.
The first event I’m attending this month is tomorrow - as a micropub ...
One of my favourite super-versatile overdrives get a new edition / makeover - to bring it up to date with the latest design phase of Colortone Pedals. The Parasite gets its name from the definition of its unique JFETs - which are described as ’... sizzling with parasitic feedback’.
4 JFETs make up the core soundstage - which is further served by wide ranging Active Post-Drive Low and High EQ’s, as well as the super smart Pre-Drive Bright Boost and Bass Boost stitches - where the latter is ...
Verlie has outdone herself once more - with 3 more killer takes on notable vintage effects - utilising the same rarified components as those originals.
For her Klon take - she has removed a number of previously core circuit elements which can otherwise generate excess noise for some players. In removing those trouble-making parts - she has delivered an utterly unique take on the Klon - which she further enhances with 2-Band EQ, and an extra Presence switch. It has the usual Buffered Bypass ...
So the Artist formerly known as ’Atom’ is now the much evolved ’Alkene’ Edition - a unique take on the Nobels ODR-1, with several modifications.
The long best considered element of Browne Amplification’s celebrated Protein Dual Overdrive has typically been the ’Green’ Nashville Overdrive channel. A very unique take on the Nobels ODR-1.
Over the years the circuit has been revolved and refined, and is now arguably the best sounding 3-knob ODR-1 - while you still have stiff competition ...
When I first encountered this new Supernode variant - I thought Lawrence might have had a previous limited edition ODR-1 take - as he frequently does limited run one-offs. While I was unable to find any trace of an LPD ODR-1 take - so presumably this is his first take of that circuit - at least officially speaking!
It is the 4-knob version of ODR-1 with the Bass-Cut control - something I feel that Brian Wampler offered first with his 2020 Belle Overdrive mini-take of the ODR-1. It’s become ...
So I’ve been waiting for my much delayed Keeley Manis to land (#17 overall) - to complete the series - and that happened on the day I’m writing this piece - which will be ’yesterday’ by the time it goes live. I ordered mine from Andertons on the 25th June - but it was delayed coming into stock at least twice, and then delayed on the shipping - so it’s been a series of scheduling issues supposedly.
I’m not sure what the root cause is - but the formerly pretty solid Andertons ’coming into ...
So the original editions of these have a black enclosure with a colour accent graphic, and matching colour knobs. Where here those accent colours saturate the entire enclosure and the accent colours and knobs are black - a sort of inversion really.
I’m not sure I would feel the need to buy the whole set again in this new livery - albeit I really like these new editions. Which of course include the :
I’ve covered ...
So this is the newest edition of many people’s favourite dual-overdrive - which is steadily moving to a position of maximum appeal for me. We have a number of extended control switches added in this new edition - one external toggle-switch for the Blue Bluesbreaker style Left Channel, and 3 internal ones for the Green Nobels ODR-1 style Right Channel.
The 3-way Hi-Cut first appeared on the Carbon Dual Bluesbreaker style Overdrive - and is now standard on the V4 Protein edition.
I don’t ...
In the wake of the recent Wampler one I did - it made sense to do a roundup of my Keeley pedals too - which funnily enough numbers a very similar amount of pedals.
I obviously juggle a lot of different priorities across something like 400 brands - so unless I was a millionaire - which I most certainly am not - I have to share the love across all those different brands - with a ’sample’ in effect from each range.
Seemingly only Josh Scott appears to be in a position to have one of each ...
