I’ve been on something of a Tremolo kick this year - I decided that said capsule collection was a little slim in comparison to my other modulation categories - so I determined that I would focus on Tremolo for 2024.

The Drunk Beaver Chernivtsi Trembita Optical Tremolo kick-started this year’s journey, and I already have the Lastgasp Flikrrr and Tru-Fi Ultra Tremolo inbound - which will take that capsule to 15.

I had further identified around 8 or 10 targets for the reference collection - including - the CopperSound Pedals Telegraph V2, Diamond Pedals Tremolo, Drolo Twin Peaks Tremolo, JHS 3 Series Harmonic Tremolo, Supro Dual Mode Tremolo, Swindler Effects Red Mountain Tremolo, and of course the Walrus Audio Monument Harmonic Tremolo! Indeed also covering the 2 recent acquisitions!

So this new and much improved Monumental edition is a timely arrival - as that pedal goes straight to the top of my Tremolo acquisitions list.

The Monument was already one of the best Harmonic Tremolo pedals out there - having been initially a larger format enclosure, then shrunken to Compact size - and so this is at least a V3 edition of that circuit - and as mentioned - it has been massively improved in every department - it has more of everything and now comes with 3 onboard presets and full stereo ins and outs.

I think I prefer the look of that standard orange enclosure really - I like having the larger wolves / coyotes on there for sure!

Controls - Volume, Shape : Sine / Square / Ramp Down (Saw) / Ramp Up / Bump / Random, Pan (0 > 180°), Rate, Depth, Standard-Both-Harmonic-Blend, Tap Divisions : Quarter / Quarter Triplets / Eighths / Eighths Triplets / Sixteens, Bypass Footswitch, Tap / Ramp-Up/Down Footswitch, Press Both Footswitches to scroll through 3 Presets, Press Both and Hold to Save Presets.

Ports / Sockets - Tap/Exp, Mono Left In, Stereo Right In, 9V DC [-] 100mA, Mono Left Out, Stereo Right Out.

New Features

  • True Stereo Input/Output
  • The ability to save and recall three on-board presets, as well as a ’live’ mode
  • Full expression control over every parameter
  • An additional wave shape and tap division
  • Pan control to allow the tremolo to sweep from left to right
  • S-B-H to allow the user to blend from standard to harmonic tremolo modes
  • The ability to ramp up OR down (ramp location controlled via rate control) to achieve ’Leslie’ style ramp from your current rate

The Monumental Stereo Harmonic Tremolo is available right now from the Walrus Audio Webstore - for $279.99. I also checked Andertons - which states they will have stock for this coming Monday - priced at £269. I’m very much looking forward to adding this one to the board - while it will need to wait its turn behind the Flikrrr and Ultra Tremolo!
