A slightly uneventful month in many ways - just the one event - the excellent sophomore Leeds Pedal Show - where I ended up picking up 3 pedals.
Some killer releases during the month, with a strong final flurry to make up the 10 notable article highlights. I’ve been very busy all month - and plenty of work has gone into this as usual, while there was somehow fewer large-scale rundowns and marquee features - more of that next month for sure.

So my Wilson Effects Capstone has landed, and it’s exactly as the demos indicate. It can be incredibly subtle and exceptionally transparent. And has an inherent sweetness to its output. You really need to crank it to get it to reveal its more textured side.
With the MOD switch to the left - things remain so transparent and subtle - it’s so incredibly transparent. While I quite like to get some mix of harmonics into the mix - which involves cranking a number of the dials.

Kevin Wilson’s Capstone Foundation Overdrive is just over a year old now - and I totally missed it the first time around. It’s thanks to a very recent Mike Hermans demo that I’m finally wise to this one. I liked the demo so much that I sprung for one instantly. These are very reasonably priced at just $155, and even better there is a ’SPRING’ promotion on now which takes off a further 15% - for an absolute bargain!

So from this listing I currently only have 1 - obviously the CryBaby one, where all ...
I had been meaning to do this exercise for quite some time - and have had a number of readers chasing me up about it - since my last Dumble Style Pedal overview was way back in February of 2019, and where I listed my then 9 favourite candidates - including three that I owned. This time around I’ve thrown 18 hats into the ring or twice as many as the last roundup.
The delay occurred in part because I was waiting for my friend Brian Mena to officially launch his V2 Dumbstruck pedal - which ...
So this is a slightly different kind of overview as we touch on a few slightly different types of pedals which produce though variations of the same Wah or ’quack’ sound - to a greater or lesser degree. I initially thought that a traditional pivot rocker Wah would be too much hassle and thus started off with the DigiTech Whammy Ricochet - which is actually largely a slightly different type of effect. If you have even the slightest affection for Jimi Hendrix, a proper Wah is ...
