For me - these Dealer special White Light editions - are some of the prettiest varieties Spaceman has released to-date - with the white-out / snow-blind livery and striking cyan / teal LED’s - just gorgeous. I was missing the Atlas IV and Apollo VIIb - and Cream City Music and Axe and You Shall Receive were enormously helpful in getting those shipped to me in short order. I then spotted that my friend Scott at Axe and You Shall Receive also had a White Light Rumblefuzz II remaining - and I just...
I initially covered this subject in mid-January - where I announced the arrival of the Tru-Fi Minis. 5 were initially made available, but at my time of coverage only 3 had reached the UK. Since then Teddy has released 3 more variants - and now 8 Minis in total have been released.
All 8 Mini Editions are now at Joe’s Pedals in the UK - priced at £199 each, where the original Tru-Fi USA price is $199 - all very fair.
Each of the 8 pedals are equivalent or better than the original larger size...
After the quiet comfort of February, March unleashed an avalanched of work - both in terms of new releases and acquisitions, but especial in the field of Guitar and Pedal expos - where I attended 3 within a month - first The Birmingham Guitar Show at Cranmore Park, then the London Synth and Pedal Expo at Studio 9294, Hackney Wick - and then back to Birmingham for the Noise Maker Market at Centrala, Digbeth - all grand events.
I burned myself out a little this month, and came back willingly empty...
This project has been a long time in the making - I actually started off this compilation properly last autumn, and then have iterated the final selection a number of times since then - before reaching this final format. I apologise to anyone whom I’ve inadvertently left out - I still have a number of Octave Fuzzes to require - that task is never ending!
I own around 80 octave fuzzes so far - and this is near enough half of those - where I’ve mostly leant into compact editions - and ...
Joe has kind of taken a leaf out of the Sof from Expresso FX playbook with his latest Fuzz-Ranger pedal. His new pedal is a touch inspired by Sof’s typical mid-size offerings, which combine a lot of features within the same enclosure - and typically offer up different Transistor selections.
Here we have an Abbey Road Fuzz (-Face) on the right hand side of the pedal - with Volume, Gain, and 3-way EQ controls. Where the left side of the pedal consists of a 2-way Germanium or Silicon ...
’These Go To 11’ is one of the select Dealers whose site I regularly check out each and every week, and where I first encountered DanDrive pedals in late 2018, before connecting directly with Dan Querner himself in early 2019. I had a number of dialogues with Dan at the time, while he made me edit most of the interesting details out of that article - both his background and career, and his methodology, and unique way with electronics. Nearly all the salient details got removed - and we ended up...
It took me a few years to pick up this full set of 4 - where each of these is a revelation - they all deliver more than you might initially think, and they do it in such a clever way. Each one of these is far greater than the sum of its parts - and all those parts are high quality THT components.
My only tiniest niggle here is that I feel the Grimalkin could do with a little more output volume, while all of these sound amazing, and are all super versatile.
We essentially have 2 fuzzes ...
At one stage - for a circa 2 year period Sof at Expresso FX was one of my very best friends - and I used to speak to him regularly - every couple of weeks or so. In that period I acquired 6 of his best, and some of those still remain as enduring classics to this day - while one of them has been further improved with an additional Low-Cut filter Knob over the two variants I have of that type.
Sof became distant during Covid - and despite several attempts, I’ve been unable to reestablish that...
I’ve pictured all 5 Mini Editions released to date - while only 3 of these are currently available at Joe’s Pedals - the ’69 and ’71 Colordrivers, and the Two Face Fuzz Face - which I own in original full-size edition - per the centrally pictured pedal in the visual!
The mini Pedals mostly have the same controls - as you can see by the 2 Colordriver models - which still have those 4 knobs (including one on the side), while the Mini Two Face drops the Input Gain knob which comes with the ...
