Greenhouse Effects Delivers Innovative Dual Switching Roots Fuzz

I’m actually quite a fan of Greenhouse Effects, even though I don’t have many to my name yet. In fact my sole representative to date is the doomy Sludge Hammer Fuzz which I really enjoy.

On this occasion Greenhouse Effects have delivered a really cool take on a sort of Muff-style fuzz - as indicated by the control topology of Volume, Tone (Dark>Bright), and Sustain. So far all very ordinary - while if you hold down the footswitch for 200ms or longer you get to switch Channels - between two quite distinct Red and Blue voicings with accompanying LED change - as below. Greenhouse call this methodology DSS (Dual Switching System) - which is actually not uncommon nowadays per se, but still rather rarely applied in this particular manner.

This is obviously achieved by some smart digital switching circuitry which I expect to crop up a lot more regularly in the near future. There are various pedals that utilise a similar function to change state - say clipping mode etc. so this is really just another elegant roll-out of that - but very well accomplished here.

Details are fairly scant for this pedal thus far, and we have only a single slightly roughcut demo to show us what this pedal is capable of (as below).

The two Channel Voicings are :

Red Channel

  • Open, Smoother on high gain, more headroom with a touch of upper octave at Maximum gain.

Blue Channel

  • Tight, Dense, darker and compressed. Notes bloom with long sustain.

The pedal is currently being offered at a first-mover discount - $99 instead of the RRP of $149. I’m certainly sufficiently intrigued here to add this to my wishlist. And I will likely snap this one up over the next days and weeks.

Available for order already on the Greenhouse Effects Webstore.
