This has been a long-time in the making! Adrian Thorpe was the first Pedal Builder I properly connected with nearly 10 years ago now at an Olympia Guitar Show I believe it was.

Thorpy actually volunteered this collaboration off his own back - he was the one to suggest this - as a reward for GPX’s long and continued support of the ThorpyFX brand. He spotted that I had used the Heavy Water 3-in-1 Boost on my board right since it first came out in the summer of 2019. And as a power user of that pedal it made sense to do a collaboration with me on that very model.

The Heavy Water is the ThorpyFX Pedal that that has been in the longest continued and constant use for me, while I have several other favourites from that roster which regularly appear on the board - including the Boneyard Multi-Bender, Camoflange Flanger, Fallout Cloud Fuzz, Field Marshall Fuzz, Peacekeeper Overdrive, Scarlet Tunic Preamp, Tacit Blue Fuzz, and Warthog Distortion.

I so love the Heavy Water that I feel everyone really needs to check it out - and if you don’t win this one, you should most definitely get a regular edition from the Thorpy FX Webstore - where they go for £209 / $279 / €249 - it’s a really versatile power-horse of a boost! All should benefit from having this in their arsenal,

I notably introduced the ’Turbo-Dane’ combination of Heavy Water with Peacekeeper - and as April will be ’Heavy Water Month’ there will be a number of further articles on this very special pedal - including its Origin Story (up next), The Turbo-Dane Experience, and the Heavy-Water as an always-on Tone Enhancer. Those articles will likely appear on each Monday of the Month.

There are and will be only 2 GPX-Branded Heavy WaterPedals, one of them shall live permanently on my board, while the other is up for grabs per this give-away! Initially Thorpy was only going to do one of these pedals, but since I only recommend pedals that I’ve tried and tested, and have run on my board - there just had to be one for me also!

So the kind of Grand Prize being offered here is a GPX-Branded Heavy Water 3-in-1 Boost (as pictured), along with a GPX Cap, and GPX Custom Hawk ToneBird 7 Casein Pick, with 3 runner-up prizes of Cap and Pick. There is an entry form as indicated in the below link, which also has the below terms / instructions :

Note that these silver shiny ThorpyFX pedals are notoriously difficult to photograph - and I often end up with slightly grainy pictures in trying to get the light totally right to catch the appropriate angle. The engraving is incredibly smooth, as is indicated better in the below image :

I spent several years, and went though around 300 different picks to discover the perfect one for me!

The result of that extensive search was the Hawk ToneBird 7 Casein Pick - made from a 60's plastic derived from Milk proteins. This pick is both wonderfully articulate while also warm sounding, and its material composition gives it a little 'tack' when your hands get a little sweaty - to aid with grip!

I prefer the standard Bevel which means you can use it either way around to the same great effect.

This is in every way the perfect pick for me - I'm not even conscious of it really when using it - it just acts as a totally natural extension to my fingers!

Highly recommended of course!

You can buy the standard Hawk ones too - which go for around £12 per pick! - on the Hawk Webstore.
