The main idea here is that these Special Editions might connect with players who have still to fully experience ThorpyFX pedals - and thus introduce these to a whole new audience!
Each of the pedals has the relevant monikered character illustrated on the sides of the pedal, and more of an outline artwork on the facia. We have totally different knob colours here (vs the originals) - where I’ve always associated the Fallout Cloud with its Orange Enclosure, while he Gunshot and Warthog are normally identified by their knobs - Purple for Gunshot, and Red for Warthog. The Blue Chicken Head Knobs are fairly rare for Thorpy - I can’t recall another pedal in the range with that specific colour. While in short - the colour selections here iare quite distinct - and not representative of the original circuits those pedals carry.
In essence these are just ’skin-jobs’ i.e. different artwork variants - meaning different pedal enclosures - while the core circuit and components / boards are of course identical to the originals.
This is the sum total of the original award-winning ThorpyFX Trifecta - at the top of its game now for over 10 years!
I feel this is a really cool way to get hold of one of these legendary pedals in a very unique format. I’m of course a fan of both Thorpy and 2000AD - I already own the full original set - and two of the Fallout Cloud - I don’t feel I need to double down here. If I was new to these - I would undoubtedly spring for the Rogue Trooper first!
These new pedal variants are really ’Editions’ of the Fallout Cloud, Warthog and Gunshot and have their own Section on the ThorpyFX Website - for many the 2000AD artworks will bring extra kudos to these pedals. Will be interesting to see who gravitates towards these.
All the 2000AD Pedal Specials are at £229 / $255 / €220
