ThorpyFX releases lower gain Peace2Keeper Overdrive with Germanium Diodes onboard for a grittier more harmonic sound - which gets beautifully overblown when cranked!

Thorpy has always wanted to make a lower gain Germanium edged variant of his fantastic all-rounder Peacekeeper Overdrive - which is here rendered in a slightly more lower gain, lower range Peace2Keeper edition - but which benefits from the extraordinary clipping prowess of those dual Germanium OA90 Diodes. The standard version of this circuit I believe uses 1N4148 Silicon Diodes or similar - which already sound fantastic in that circuit - but where the output profile is now further elevated by those rarer Diodes.

Controls - Gain (Low Gain > Saggy Blooming Overdrive > Overblown Amp Distortion at Max!), Treble, Level, Presence, Bass. 

I always though the control topology was a little odd in not being the more classic Bass-Mids-Treble EQ - while the Presence here is kind of an Upper Mids control of sorts I think - and those 3 current EQ’s perform beautifully together to give you the full palette of frequencies you need.

The Peackeeper has long been one of my favourite all-rounder overdrives - combining elements of Klon, Bluesbreaker and Timmy even within the same circuit - it truly is wonderfully versatile. And the standard edition has a surprisingly versatile range of gain. Thorpy often places this one after the Warthog for a more elevated sound. But such is the Peacekeeper’s versatility that it works beautifully in front and downstream from another gain pedal - it really combines and stacks beautifully.

And I’m really looking forward to getting stuck into this one - to fully find out what the core differences are between the two - and which of these I prefer as a default.

I already really loved the original Peacekeeper, so I have very high hopes for this evolved edition! Which alas will be limited - owing to the scarcity of those Diodes! So if you want one you need to be quick!

Thorpy describes the gain range as follows - by colour band and as per my visual! :

"BLUES = Low gain germanium section, designed to bloom, polish and enhance your guitars tone with a light and warm overdrive"

"ORANGES = An overdrive designed to sag, bloom, breath and respond to your guitars volume control, cleaning up perfectly and yet remaining clear and versatile."

"REDS = This section is savage, this transfers what is an overdrive into what sounds like an amp approaching destruction, there is sag, compression and at extremes it sounds like a low watt amp is destroying itself."

And as mentioned - you need to be really quick as supplies are strictly limited - there are only so many Germanium OA90 Diodes to go around - and once they’re gone - they’e gone!
