Volume pedals typically come in either Passive or Powered variants - where the Powered ones typically hold down a much more expansive feature set as is the case here. The only other truly expansive Volume Pedal that comes to mind is the Sonuus Voluum - which is a favourite of my friend Henry Kaiser. That pedal has always seemed a little on the large side - but it covers a lot of ground - as does the Canvas Volume.
It’s a full Stereo Volume controller with a choice of 8 different Taper Curves - selected by a smart ← + → front panel.
For a Volume pedal a current draw of 300mA seems somewhat high - while it has to be because of those digital controls.
The brand I mostly associate with high quality Volume Pedals is German Brand Lehle. While this new Walrus Canvas Volume certainly makes its mark.
Controls - ← + → Taper, Min, Gain, Lag, 1-8 Tapers.
Ports - In Left, In Right, Out Left, Out Right, Tuner, 9V DC [-] 300mA, USB-C.
Volume pedals are essential utilities for many players - either at the start or end of the chain. This Canvas Volume seems somewhat uniquely innovative, but is relatively pricey @ $300 and equivalent from the Walrus Audio Webstore. It looks to be very well made, while it’s not the smallest of pedals at .
I’m not sure one of these will ever be in my future - but it’s always cool to witness innovation.
I feel this one is going to do pretty well for Walrus.
