Key Points

CopperSound’s FoxCatcher BluesBreaker V2 Compact Edition drops the V1’s Boost and trims the Nature control, adding a 3-way Gain Switch and 3-way Shape/Bass control for more granularity; the Gain Switch “kind of replaces the Boost.”

V1 controls: Volume, Tone, Nature/Character, Drive, Order: Drive First / Boost Force, Boost, Drive footswitch, Boost footswitch.

V2 controls: Gain (Structure) High / Medium / Low, Drive, Shape (Bass) Some / Least / Most, Volume, Tone.

Pricing/availability: $229 (down from $249) on CopperSound Webstore, pre-order with shipping commencing at the end of the month.

CopperSound has a new version of hits FoxCatcher BluesBreaker type - now in V2 Compact Edition - minus the Boost from the V1 edition.

There are significant changes to the control topology - where we have lost the Nature control from the V1 - but gain a new 3-way Gain Switch, and 3-way Shape / Bass control, Those actually give you a life more overall granularity - where the Gain Switch - kind of replaces the Boost from the original.

I of course much prefer compact formats - but the jury’s still out on whether the new topology is better than the old!

V1 Controls - Volume, Tone, Nature / Character. Drive, Order : Drive First / Boost Force, Boost, Drive Footswitch, Boost Footswitch.

The new one is obviously more pedalboard-friendly, and is more to my own preferences!

V2 Controls - Gain (Structure) : High / Medium / Low, Drive, Shape (Bass) : Some / Least / Most, Volume, Tone.

I think I have around 20 or 30 BluesBreaker variants already - so I don't really need another. While I do somewhat collect Breakers - perhaps not quite as much as some of my other favourite overdrive circuits - but a fair amount.

And I feel I've got most of the good ones already!

I've still to assign priority to this, I'm not sure yet whether this one is a Must Have! / or a Nice To Have! - time will tell.

These are currently priced at a slightly discounted level for launch on the CopperSound Webstore- where they are current at $229, down from $249 - where $229 seems to be a fairer price. It's a nice looking pedal - with a superior knob selection, and really decent build quality - there's much to like here - while I'm still not sure whenever I need one!

These are on pre-order now - with shipping commencing at the end of the month as far as I understand!
