2025-GPX-Best-New-Spatial-Pedals-700.jpg

In many ways this is the most straightforward category with singular award nominees - GOLD, SILVER and BRONZE.

It’s the second smallest category after Distortions - and the one where I own the least number of pedals in proportion to the whole - just 10 out of these 26.

The order pretty much set itself - with the Cornerstone Nucleo being the clear winner from the start. I’m so impressed with every aspect of that pedal - it’s a perfect Trifecta of Design, Feaures and Playability - pretty much a perfect pedal for me. Unlike the ghosting said brand has inflicted on me - so unprofessional! But you have to observe that this is a paricularly fine pedal - for which I paid full price for - from Definitive Guitars in the Netherlands - one of the very first to get that pedal in stock! Thank you again to Dylan Banus for he help - that pedal really is a wonder for me. It was so good that I was due to get in the Hotone Verbera during the last quarter of the year - but so liked the Nucelo that I really did not want to shift it!

I’ve also long wanted a more compact version of an EHX Deluxe Memory Man - and that’s exactly what the Echo 600 is - with the added appeal of sliders! And I’ve really enjoyed both new Colortone Pedals this year - with the ZeroSum has the standaout choice. Those 3 pedals deserve all the plaudits and are very worthy award winners here.

These are the Awards :

[GOLD] - Cornerstone Nucleo Power Station Hall Reverb

[SILVER] - PastFx Echo 600 [EHX Deluxe Memory Man]

[BRONZE] - Colortone ZeroSum Dual Head Delay

Further details below as usual! :

2025-GPX-Best-New-Spatial-Pedals-700.jpg

Beetronics Bee Bee Dee Analog Modulated Delay - $299

close

www.beetronicsfx.com

Controls - Tone (Low-Pass to the Left, Neutral in the Middle, High-Pass to the Right), Delay Time (Max 600ms), Dry > Wet Mix, Mod Speed [Pitch Rate], Depth [Pitch], Performance Mode : 2x / Tap Tempo / Mod, Mode : Pitch / Classic / Lo-Fi (Tape), Performance Footswitch (2x / Tap Tempo / Mod - per above toggle-switch), Bypass - Hold for Feedback Boost.

A genius Analog Delay with Digital Controls and maximum versatility for the format - pretty much as what you would expect from Beetronics. This has been over 2 years in the making and it really shows. Capable of both classic and more off-kilter sounds. Not quite as wild as he Cosmodio Spinter Twin - but still quite zany. I'm after both for 2026 - not sure which one I will get in first - it's all about the opportunity - I oscillate between this Bee Bee Dee and the Splinter Twin - we'll find out what happens next year. Both of those are brilliant in any case!

Black Mountain Jack White Signature Roto Echo Delay - $299

close

blackmountainpicks.com

Controls - KNOBS } Blend, Feedback, Time; 3-WAY SWITCH } Time / Feedback / Blend.

A really smart live-action dynamic PT2399 delay with 3 simple controls - and a large onboard scroll wheel to manipulate each of those parameters in turn. A genius innovation - really robust and tour-grade reliable - a great advance on the Classic Audio Delay. The guys are now working on a Deluxe model with 4 params and stereo output - where you can flip between parametes via a second footswitch. In any case - that's what I've suggested - and they seemed very keen to get stuck into that project - we shall see if anything comes of my recommendations! In the meantime - this Mono variant is still excellent - and pretty essential!

Buzzing Bugs Stargazy Transistor-Based Preamp-Driven Reverb - £179 / $238

close

buzzingbugsfx.com

Controls - Infinity : Feedback / Oscillation / Shimmer / Wall of Noise, Wet Mix, Load (Reverb Gain : Clean to Grating Shimmer), Master Volume, Body : Signal Fullness / Input Gain, Preamp Gain : Sparkling Cleans > Growling Fuzz, Tone : Classic OD EQ, ∞ Infinity Foorswitch, On/Bypass Footswitch.

A really flavourful cool and unusual take on Reverb - with Feedback, Oscillation, Shimmer, and Wall of Noise capabilities - alll driven by a Transistor Preamp. This cleverly makes great use of Cornish lore too!

Colortone Pedals ZeroSum Stereo Dual Head Delay [BRONZE] - $249

close

www.colortonepedals.com

Layer 1 Controls [RED] - Rate, Delay Mode : Single Head / Dual Head / Echo Pong, Delay Style : Mode A / Mode B / Mode C [Patterns], Delay Mix, Tone (Brightness), Repeats, Spread / Stereo Width, Left Tap Tempo Footswitch, Right Bypass Footswitch, Press-Hold for Layer 2 (Green LED).

Layer 2 Controls [GREEN] - TT Rate Multiplier : x1 / x2 / x3 / x4 (Tap Tempo), Presets : P1, P2, P3 [ABC switch], Boost, Tape Age [Lo-Fi], Drive, Feedback Q, LEFT LED Indicates Presets - Amber P1, Red P2, Green P3, Left Tap Tempo Footswitch - Long press is Preset Save, Right Footswitch is Bypass - Long Press for Layer 1 (Red LED).

A really great Tape Stye delay - particularly on the Dual Head Mode. I really like the Single Head also - while weirdly I'm not particularly enamoured by the Echo Pong on this occasion - which seems to work somewhat unusually! Other than that this is a perfect pedal - particularly after the latest firmware update - which delivers a brighter output, and footswitchable preset selection via dual-press!

Cornerstone Paul Davids Signature Nucleo Power Station Reactor Hall Reverb [GOLD] - $449

close

www.cornerstonemusicgear.com

Controls - Mode : Room [lo-fi], Reactor [vintage], Hall [normal], Blend [volume], Modulation [rate], Air [pitch], Flux [speed], Decay [pre-delay], Tone [diffuse], Freeze-Pitch [freeze-volume], Rocker Switch : Live Panel / F2 Secondary / Presets [1|2|3], Bypass Footswitch [save], Freeze Footswitch [preset 1-3].

A truly perfect pedal in every area - Design, Features, Form and Function. This has huge playability with plenty of versatility across those ingenious slider modes - Modulation, Shimmer, and Granules. Everything combines beautifully - I so like this pedal that I never want to part it from its adopted slot. While the Hotone Verbera has been patiently waiting in the wings for near half the year - and I really need to give that one a fair shake too. So the Nucleo will briefly go on hiatus while I try other options! Congrats to Emilio and Paul for a job really well done - and curses on Emilio for ghosting me for most of the year - my once good friend has not replied to me since the middle of June - go figure!

Cosmodio Instruments Splinter Twin Delay Line Manipulator - $349

close

cosmod.io

Controls - Dry>Wet Blend, Volume, Mod Speed, Dark (Wet Filter), Voice : Precise Dry Signal Copy / Phase Inversion / Milti-Tap, Time : Flange > Chorus > Double > Echo, Mod Shape : Sine / Random / Alt [S&H / Recerse Saw (default) / Saw, Preamp Level, Feedback / Repeats, Mod Depth, 2 x Feedback Footswitch, Bypass Footswitch.

The wildest delay pedal of the year I think. The Beetronics Bee Bee Dee is pretty wild - but this one is probably a couple of levels above that - a really unique and unusual Delay Line Manipulator with an extraordinary palette of tones. And yes you can go fairly vanilla too if you wish - but when you have all those extra fireworks - why would you want to stick to the basics. A definite target for me for 2026.

Crazy Tube Circuits Mirage JR Single Channel Reverb Workstation - €325 / $378

close

crazytubecircuits.com

Controls - Volome, Shift Button : ⬆ Outer Reverb Modes / ⬇ Inner Reverb Modes, Mix, Voice : Outer || Plate  Cathedral / Hall / Room / Spring / Springier / Inchindown / Gated, Inner || Up Shimmer / Down Shimmer / Dual Shimmer / Pitch Shimmer / Repeater / Moduverb / Frozen Hall / Infinite. Swell Degree, Assign Button : ⬆ Swell / ⬇ Excite, Excite, Engage Reverb, Engage Swell or Excite (per buttons selection).

The half-pint single channel version of the Mirage - with all the same core algorithms onboard but not the advanced Stereo routing. Still a very decent multi-mode Reverb - with all controls fully surfaced and obvious. I'm in two minds as to which of those two to get - you certainly have a great number of fantastic algorithms at your fingertips.

Crazy Tube Circuits Mirage SR Dual Reverb Workstation - €219 / $255

close

crazytubecircuits.com

Controls - REVERB 2 } Volume, Outer / Inner Bank Shift Button, Mix, Voice : 1-16 (see below), Swell, Swell / Excite Footswitch Assigne, Excite (variable param), Reverb 2 Footswitch (default), REVERB 1 } Volume, Outer / Inner Bank Shift Button, Mix, Voice : 1-16 (see below), Swell, Swell / Excite Footswitch Assigne, Excite (variable param), Reverb 1 Footswitch (default). UNIVERSAL } Footswitch Mode : IND SW (Separate Channel Switch) / R1 XF (Swell / Exciter).

Internal Controls : Routing : MISO (Mono In Stereo Out) / SOS (Stereo or Series or Separate), Bypass : True / Trails, Kill-Dry : Off/On.

And here is the full-fat Stereo variant with advanced routing possibilities. I feel this is the more likely target for me for next year this is a pretty magnificent take on Reverb with 16 algorithms on each channel - for maximum impact.

Death By Audio Infinity Verb - $249

close

deathbyaudio.com

External Controls - Dry>Wet Mix, Low Pass Filter, Decay Time, Infinity Modes : Loop Only / Capture & Loop / Self-Oscillate, Infinity Footswitch Options : Latching / Momentary, Engage Footswitch, Infinity (Mode) Footswitch.

Internal Controls - Input Switch : Mono / Stereo, Bypass Trails Switch : Trails / No Trails.

A really cool take on a compact Reverb - with full stereo routing. There's a rumour that this will be back in circulation again in the new year - but probably DBA will have had another Reverb Pedal out by then!

Diamond Memory Lane STM32 Edition - $259

close

www.diamondpedals.com

Controls - Mix, Feedback, Delay (up to 2400ms), Modulation, Tap [Mode] : Memory Lane JR / Vintage / Galloping 2-Head / Ambient 3-Head, On/Off Footswitch, Tap / Double Footswitch.

A further interesting advance and evolution of the the recent Compact Memory Lane reissue - here with a new chip onboard and new and further algorithms / playback modes. A definite innovation and improvement!

Electro-Harmonix Oceans Abyss Dual Stereo Advanced Reverb Laboratory - $495

close

www.ehx.com

Controls - CORE } OLED VDU, Preset, Home, Settings, Rotary Encoder, REVERB A } Pan, Pre-Delay, Time, Blend, EQ > Low, High, Edit, Moment, Trails, REVERB B } Pan, Pre-Delay, Time, Blend, EQ > Low, High, Edit, Moment, Trails, FOOTSWITCHES } A, B, Engage Effect, A + Effect is Preset Down, B + Effect is Preset Up.

Much like the Meris larger workstation pedals - these EHX ones are increasingly becoming the same sort of thing - in that they are really more Multi-FX and extended workstation pedals - and indeed Sound Design devices - where the core dynamic sits in one category (Reverb in this instance) - but the supporting cast is drawn from a lot wider field. There are all manner of secondary settings and modes here - for one of the most potent Reverb pedals ever - with really smart controls too. It does though challenge its pedalboard-friendly status - with a singularly large enclosure. I can mostly understand why - but it does limit its take-up to a degree. And this pedal is just too large to be easily accommodated on the board. But for those who have space - this is an incredible device. Its large size drops it a couple of points which means it's not quite eligible for an award - but so close!

Empty Head Effects Falling Man Downward Gravity Delay - €235 / $275

close

www.emptyheadeffects.com

Controls - Stride (Delay Time : sort of up to 2.x seconds), Pace is Repeats, and Fall is intensity / degree of ’Fall’ deformity - you can easily dial it out on the Stumble Mode. Where the Stumble / Trip switch delivers milder deviations in the UP position, and more accentuated and exaggerated in the DOWN position.

A very unique PT2399 driven beyond its normal operating conditions to deliver quirky downward pitching gravity style effect - where you can control the degree and intensity of the 'Fall' via the Stumble / rip Mode Switch. You get a cool skewed yawing modulation with the effect applied in full, but can dial it down to more conventional levels - it also deliver a marvellous bright chorus voicing.- a very unusual delay indeed! I really rathe like it - while it is an acquired taster situation for sure - and not for the weak-hearted!

Fjord Fuzz Fjær Spring style Reverb - $229

close

fjordfuzz.no

Controls - Dry, Wet, Size and Tone,

The latest of Fjord Fuzz's Spring style Reverb Pedals - this one is he brightest and best textured one - with the perfect complement of controls. A good spring style reverb can sound amazing and this digital variety is pretty great - very straight forward!

Recap!

2025-GPX-Best-New-Spatial-Pedals-700.jpg

Hello Sailor Effects Seawolf PT2399 Delay - £250 / $333

close

hellosailoreffects.com

Controls - Volume / Boost, Delay Time (25ms-425ms), Repeats, Mix.

This one is based on the PT2399 Mad Professor Deep Blue Delay - which is already lush - but his one adds in a 4th control - and even more lushness. A really gorgeous sounding analog style delay - this iteration sound particularly brilliant - the repeats are delightful!

Hotone Verbera Stereo Convolution Reverb with Insane USB-C IR Loader - $299

close

www.hotone.com

Controls - Decay, Attack / Pre-Delay, Tone / Modulation, Preset, Mix, IR, ALT/MENU Button, Hi-Res LCD, CLONE Button, Active Footswitch, Freeze Footswitch [Dual Footswitch Modes].

This one should have been in already - but I could not bear taking the Cornerstone Nucleo off the board - I really love that pedal. While this Verbera is probably the best of the Convolution Reverbs to-date - with so many smart features - and a relatively reasonable price point - less than half of a BigSky MX! I've already qualified this one - and it should finally materialise fairly early next year - I'm duty bound to give all intriguing targets a fair shake!

Hungry Robot Wallflower All-in-one-Shoegazer Multi-FX / Reverb - $150

close

www.hungryrobotpedals.com

Controls - Hollow (Low Pass Filter), Bloom (Long Decay Pad Reverb), Layer (Octave Up + Down Reverb), Chorale (2-Mode Chorus), Distortion, Effect On/Off Footswitch, Distortion Footswitch.

I kind of expected this one to have landed already - while the second and final batch is now not due until February of next year. This is an exceptional all-in-one shoe gazer pedal - with twin Reverb Modes onboard - Bloom and Layer - that you mix up together!

KHDK Deftones Signature Digital Bath Bubbly Aquatic Filter and Delay - $249

close

www.khdkelectronics.com

Controls - DELAY } Mix, Time (up to 400ms); FILTER } Mix, Depth (Intensity), Rate.

This is a unique and pretty amazing sounding bubbly acquatic filter + delay. The first bach sold out incredibly quickly - in fact KHDK are known for making small batches with fairly rapid take-up. Which make it rather tricky to pick these up. They used to be in wider distribution a few years ago - but nowadays you almost always need to buy direct. The timing of those bathes are typicaly not particularly conducive - and I have missed out several times before. You really can't hesitate when you spot on of these - you need to snap it up on sight - if you pause the slightest degree - someone else will have snagged your intended pedal!

Klowra Everlast Multi-Mode Stereo Delay - $129

close

www.klowra.com

Controls - TIME : 20ms-1200ms [rhythm : quarter / dotted eight / triplet eighth, REPEATS [ramp attack time], DRY-WET MIX [ramp release time], MODE : Tape / Digital / Analog / Reverse / Swell / Granule / Crystal / Sweeper / Modulated, TEXTURE, TONE, LED Button for ALT / [secondary modes], Press-Hold Footswitch for Tap Tempo and Ramping.

An improvement over the similar ALABS pedal - where this one is an evolved and improved iteration on those core algorithms. These were such revelation in their first incarnation that these alternative brand improved editions have slightly less impact that the originals. Even though the later new brand versions are every ways improved - including the core control topology. The Delay and Reverb from this range are the absolute stand-out pedals - first class for sure - with some distinct and unique algorithms. The ALABS experience was already very impressive, the Klowra experience is improved in every department - while the impact of the newer pedal is not quite as exciting or as acute - even though the new ones are superior - still with the same sort of low price. For sure just about the best budget pedals you can get for Delay, and Reverb!

Klowra Limbo Multi-Mode Stereo Reverb - $129

close

www.klowra.com

Controls - DECAY [predelay], BRIGHT [ramp atk time], MIX [ramp rls time], MODE : Hall / Church / Room / Spring / Plate / Swell / Hazy / Shimmer / Tide, TEXTURE, SIZE, LED Button for ALT / [secondary modes], Press-Hold Footswitch for Tap Tempo and Ramping.

For the ALABS series launch the Reverb was by far and away the most impactful. While for Klowra - the Delay and Reverb are pretty much matched in their prowess - and therefore equally appealing. Reverbs always seem to do particularly well - so perhaps this still has some edge over the Everlast - but for me they are equally good - the two best from the Recent Klowra range. Possibly the appeal of this Limbo - puts is very slightly above the Everlast - I really like both of them - the best budget Spatial Pedal Pairing for me!

Mentha.Works Monk Echo Reverb + Dealy infused with a human voice - €317 / £279 / $369

close

mentha.works

Controls - wet/dry | ○ input level, reverb/delay mix | ○ reverb pre-delay, delay time (1ms > 10s) | ○ reverse delay, feedback | ○ reverse grains, monk voice | ○ voice character, select vowel | ○ auto vowel glide, modulation | ○ fluctuation, distortion | ○ degradation, active | ○ macro pressure footswitch, presets | ○ tap tempo footswitch, 8 x 8 LED Macro Display, big macro control | ○ settings.

The Monk Echo is undeniably the most distinctive pedal design this year. A unique Reverb-Delay pedal with magical formant voiced choral accents - really spiritual and ethereal - like having a celestial choir on top of you core Reverb. There are multiple modes of playback here and some incredibly smart controls. This company is a somewhat off-shoot from Gamechanger Audio - with the two key partners having been alumnis there. They've definitely carried some of that distinctive character forward - with their own somewhat game changing Reverb-Delay. I will for sure be getting one of these in next year. My friend Cyril has already landed one - so it will be great to be able to compare notes in time - he's normally a super reference for me!

KMA Machines Geminus Stereo True Double Tracker - €229 / $269 / £199

close

kmamachines.com

Controls - TDH Width (Stereo Width and Separation - Max L/R CW), Tine : Tighter CCW < Default in Middle > Looser CW, Level = Doubler Mix (Single > Fully Double), Pitch : Some Pitch Modulation Up / Default | Off in Middle / Max Wobble Down, Mode : Stereo > Stereo / Mono > Stereo / Mono > Mono.

Supposedly the best and most authentic sounding Double-Tracker to date with the core Double Delay Lines. I am of course still somewhat wedded to the TC Electronic Mimiq - which gives me 3 overdubs - versus the more classic 2 here. The Mimiq has been rooted to my board for so may years - that I don't really care if there is a more authentic version out there - the Mimic is already fairy dust for my rig - I love the effect I imparts - marking the poundage deeper, wider and overall bigger - very much a tone enhancing effect for me. I'm a little scared to move away from that. But inevitably I will need to give the Geminus a fair shake too. It of course depends on the opportunity - so we will need to see what kind of game 2026 brings with I!

Mojo Hand FX SMPLoFi Bitcrusher + Reverb + Filter - $159

close

mojohandfx.com

Controls - BITCRUSHER MODE } 24 > 2 Bit Depth, Sample Rate Reduction, Dry > Wet Mix; RED REVERB & FILTER MODE } Red SMPL / Reverb Mode Button, 24 > 2 Bit Depth + Reverb Gate Time, Band Pass Filter Frequency, Dry > Wet Mix.

This could also have gone in the previous modulation category - but that was so packed - that I thought it best to include his one as a Reverb - which is actually its core secondary voicing. A fairly unique Multi-FX which combines  a Bitcrusher with secondary Reverb and Band-Pass filter effects. Very much from the Lo-Fi camp - I see this one as being somewhat adjacent to the recent EHX Atomic Cluster - where both are sort of De-Rezzers effects of slightly differing kinds!

PastFX Echo 600 Deluxe Memory Man Take [SILVER] - $325

close

www.pastfx.com

Controls - LEVEL } Input, Blend, Output; CHORUS/VIBRATO } Depth, Rate; ECHO } Feedback, Delay (0-600ms); RANGE } Short (Blue) / Long (Red).

I've so long wanted a relatively compact full-fat EHX Memory Man delay - where this a compacted take on the super rare Echo 600 slider variant of the Deluxe Memory Man. As a modulated delay - this has a very distinctive effect tone / texture - and PastFX has captured that perfectly here - just shrinking it down by a little more than half. I have considered a number of Memory Man takes over the years - including the J Rockett Clockwork Echo. While PastFX has done me proud once more - with a superb take on that legendary delay - this one sounds amazing - but does require a little finesse on the dial-in!

Polarbear Effects Gardelyn PT2399 Dual Parallel Delay with 3 Tremolo Points - €219 / $255

close

www.polarbeareffects.com

Controls - Dry, Wet, Delay 1 Time, Delay 2 Time, Repeats for Both, Latch (Probably of Tremolo repeating on the same LED / point), Tremolo Rate [Tremolo Depth - with Random Button held), Tremolo Points 1-3 Push-buttons : Off | On | Blinking | Fading | Blinking + Fading, 4th Push-Button is Randomisation for Tremolo (and held delivers Depth for Rate knob), Left Footswitch is Delay On/Of / Engage, Right Footswitch triggers new Tremolo Seed / Sequence.

I currently have 2 Polarbear Pedals I need to land - this really cool combination of PT2399 Delay and Tremolo. Darko is after all the master of the PT2399 chip. I also need to land the most recent improved version of The Drowner Shoegazer - where the original is still one of my all-time favourites shoegazers - and the lates iteration sort of combines both the Drowner and Ascender pedal in the one super-charged circuit. I also really waned the compact petrichor at the time - but alas ha moment has passed - and the only way I'm getting one of those is second hand. This new Gardelyn pedal is pretty unique and sounds fantastic!

Source Audio Encounter Adventurous Delay + Reverb - $399

close

sourceaudio.net

Controls - Delay, Mode : (Delay) Noise Tape / Resonant / Drum Echo / Echoverb / Kaleidoscope (New) / Helix / (Reverb) Hypersphere (New) / Shimmers (New) / Trem Verb / Reverse / Lo-Fi / Swell / Mix / Feedback / Tone / Control 1 / Control 2 / Tap Divisions : Quarter / Dotted Eighth / Triplet, Knobs : Delay / Lock / Reverb, Delay / Tap Footswitch, PRESETS } Select Button : 1-8, Reverb Footswitch.

Source Audio's 'Collider' Delay + Reverb is wildly popular, but has always been a little 'Vanilla' for me. So Source Audio has clocked that and made a more adventurous take on Delay + Reverb - featuring the more unique algorithms from the Nemesis and Venries - and then adding a few cool new algos into the mix too. The Encounter is exactly the same forma as the Collider - same control topology ports etc. Just with different algorithms onboard! For sure a combination that I'm more likely to acquire than the Collider - while I'm still not 100% sure that the Encounter is 100% for me! Time will surely tell - and impressive device for sure - but with some old-fashioned things about it - including its Mini-USB connectivity - everything should be USB-C by now - this is somewhat lagging behind the standards in that regard!

Tru-Fi Aqua Echo 600 - $295

close

tru-fi.com

Controls - Time > 600ms, MODS : Mod 1 / X - Stock / Mod 2 (), Mix, Wow, Feedback, Flutter.

Due diligence doesn't always happen in time! I missed out on the small batch of these that landed at Joe's Pedals - as I decide I should double checkout said Analog Mono delay before I sprung for it. This one uses NOS Matsushita MN3005 BBD chips - which are very short on the ground these days - which is why Xvivie makes a versions of those. There is sill something extra mahigal about the older 3005 chips - they have a magic mojo about them typically where they sound just a little more lush than the modern replicas. Probably not exactly the same materials formulation - while the recent PastFX Echo 600 sounds expceitonal with Xvice types. I'm patiently waiting for a second batch of these to make it through to Joe's Pedals - and I will surely snag one the second time around!
