So I’m way late on this one - mostly a by-product of how busy I am - I can’t keep my eye on every single pedal company simultaneously - so inevitable the occasional release falls through the cracks. I was also in part waiting for this one to come into stock at Joe’s Pedals - but I clocked it too late - and the small quantity Joe had - sold almost immediately. I did sleep on this in part too - as I had only just received the Black Mountain Roto Echo, and the Echo 600 from PastFX has also just arrived - so the Aqua wasn’t an immediate priority! By the time I figured out I really wanted an Aqua Echo - they were all gone!
Hopefully Teddy makes some more for Joe - and if he does I’m front of the line for that batch. Teddy is using vintage MN3005 chips - which are around $50 a pop - so for the 2 MN3005’s onboard (300ms delay time each) that’s $100 alone - making the $299 very reasonable, £319 at Joe’s Pedals - obviously a moot point at the moment as they’re all sold out - while Teddy is still scouring the world for more vintage MN3005’s.
Controls - Time > 600ms, MODS : Mod 1 / X - Stock / Mod 2 (), Mix, Wow, Feedback, Flutter.
According to Joe the 2 MODS are Modulation Depth, and Modulation Pitch.
The Aqua Echo is based on the Boss DM-2 and Way Huge Aqua Puss delays - which are both though just 3-knob delays. While the Aqua Echo has those extra Mods alongside the Wow & Flutter mini controls - which give you degradation and pitch oscillation too. Therefore replicating a Tape Delay also!
Those classic analog BBD Delays are typically super warm and lush - and Teddy has done an exceptional job with the Aqua Echo. Which has resulted in 100 of those units being snapped up incredibly quickly already.
Readers will know that normally I favour stereo delays - but some of those Mono analog ones sound really special - even though Mono. Of course I have the excellent Flower Pedal Dahlia Full Stereo Analog BBD Delay already - but there’s something really pulling me toward that Aqua Echo.
I definitely want one! And hopefully Teddy can source more vintage BBD MN3005 chips! And hopefully the price will hold at $299 / £319. There’s no point of my posting up further details at the moment for Joe’s Pedals - but the Aqua Echo does seem to be still available for preorders on the Tru-Fi Webstore.
There’s just one YouTube demo to-date - as below!
