It’s great to see the Chain Home Tremolo revived in a smaller MKII Edition - for the larger original format only around 100 of those were made as far as I’m aware. It’s a significant evolution and enhancement over the Vox Repeat Percussion Tremolo on which it’s based - and it comes with additional controls - for more range, adaptability and versatility.
This is one of two Thorpy Pedals which are now permanently back in the catalogue, alongside a new MKII/III Team Medic Edition - both are Special Order items. This means they are made in small batches once or twice a month and should take approximately 2 weeks or so to ship from order - give or take a few days for contingencies! Which means if you order within the current batch - like me - you should get your pedal by the end of the month!
The Chain home is £214.99, and the Team Medic is 224.99. There’s no Order Window limit - these will be permanently available in the catalogue - but you will need to wait for the batch to be produced - meaning that these are more like pre-orders really. They are found in the Special Projects Section of the ThorpyFX Website.
I was hoping that the Chain Home would make it into the smaller enclosure format - and now that has happened - I probably need to do another Thorpy Capsule Collection rundown. I’ve still to get the Fat General Parallel Compressor and the Have Blue Germanium Boost - those are the only 2 Thorpy’s remaining on my wishlist.
I’m already at 22 pedals for the month (normal threshold is 20!), and we’re not even half way through August yet - so those final 2 acquisitions will need to wait until September at the very least! May even be the month after.
I own most of the Thorpy pedals now - in their compact editions - it’s a brand I’m always keen to support. And Thorpy was my very first friend in this business - so he’s the pedal engineer that I’ve known the longest!
As these are Special Order items - there are no new demos to accompany their revived release - so I will simply reference Andy Martin’s and Mike Hermans’ earlier demos of the larger MKI Chain Home - which is exactly the same circuit - just in a bigger box back then!
