The Gunshot is Thorpy’s oldest official pedal - around 10 years old now, the Warthog is nearly as old - give or take a year or so, and the Peacekeeper is slightly more recent. I did an article a while back on Thorpy’s original award-winning trifecta - which includes the Gunshot, Warthog and Fallout Cloud Fuzz.
For the 3 pedals featured - Thorpy has revisited the pedal artwork for each - where his fairly recently arrived Roland UV-Printer can deliver a lot more intricate and full-colour designs than the earlier laser engraving technology Thorpy used. He is now easily able to make the artwork more elaborate and cover the sides also - which all feature appropriate complementary art now.
The Peacekeeper now features a more evolved design - based on the Peacekeeper MX Missile I believe - where the sides now have the slightly rusted rivets of the original Missile body.
The Gunshot now features a bullet vortex on the sides - or the shock wave of a Buller as it breaks the speed of sound barrier.
And finally, the Warthog features WWII USAF style fighter plane nose-art - common to that era - and where the ’shark-face’ artwork - per the Warthog was the most popular design from that period!
The Peacekeeper is a a Low-to-mid-gain transparent chameleon overdrive - a little bit of Boost, some Klone, some Breaker, a little Timmy, and a few more variations on that theme. Thorpy’s Gunshot is a JCM800 style overdrive and distortion - where I use it for more Plexi style tones, and the Warthog is of course an extended range Rat-style Distortion circuit - with more gain extension in both directions. All three pedals deliver excellent extension and extended range for ultimate deployment flexibility - I have and love each of those original more compact variants.
Apart from the more elaborate artworks - these are exactly the same circuits as before - with the same components, and sold for the same price. The Peacekeeper is £224.99 and equivalent, the Gunshot is £209.99, and the Warthog is £209.99 also - all very fairly priced and available direct from the ThorpyFX Webstore. I really like the bolder new artworks - while they’re quite a change from the original more minimal laser-etched designs.
The new white on black facia variants are definitely a lot more legible though!
