I’m a huge fan of Brian Wampler - the persona, and the ’King of Drive’ as I call him! Some say Nick Greer is the King of Drive - but for me it’s always been Brian! They both have very different approaches - Nick leans into the simplified 3-knob format, while Brian is more about expanded features and extended range pedals. This is in fact my 20th Wampler Pedal - while I had to order it in from Thomann, as none of the UK dealers have those in stock - and Andertons is reporting that it will only get stock in on February 17th 2026 - which seems to be somewhat distant!
I really rate a number of Brian’s drives and distortions - including the Aquatone, Euphoria, Moffetta, and Pantheon - where those are mostly expanded takes - with 3-Band EQ, and additional Modes - exactly as is the case for this TCD OCD!
It soups up the OCD with 3-Band EQ, 2 main playback modes - Stock (Traditional) and Cascaded MOSFET more Amp-like Mode. Internally we also have 2 further dip-switches which allow you to add a further Clipping Diode into proceedings (more saturation!), and more Fatness to the Output.
I knew I would want one of these - even just from a whisper of the concept. I wasn’t expecting it though - so it kind of caught me by surprise - where my first exposure was the YouTube launch video, and it wasn’t until the following day that I got the Wampler launch email. This pedal hasn’t been featured much in the media - apart from my friends at Gear News and Stompbox Steals.
I love the Marshally Crunch of the OCD - and have 3 original varieties of that circuit - the 1.7, 2.0, and Germanium Editions.

This project very much reminds me of the work Brian did for his Aquatone collaboration with Electric Love. That was a brilliant expansion of the Boss BD-2 - with 3-Band EQ, and 2-way Mode Switch.
So the TCD goes one step further than that with internal additional dip-switch options. Meaning in short that you can switch up your pedal 4 ways.
It sounds very impressive in the demos, while Brian is in such high esteem with me - that I ordered said pedal well before I got anywhere near the demos. I had noted the existence of Brian Wampler's TCD YouTube launch video - but I had not watched it yet!
Controls - Bass, Mids, Treble, Level, Mode : Cascaded MOSFET / Stock, Gain.
Internal dippers - Diode Off/On >, Fat Off/On >.
Surely yet another superior Wampler take. I will let you know my first impressions when my one lands from Thomann - towards the end of next week!
The TCD Compulsion Drive is already available from the Wammpler Webstore - where it goes for $199. I acquired mine from Thomann in Germany - for £195 / €219.
I am expecting great things!
