Dublin's Moose Electronics Pedals are now available at Joe's Pedals in the UK
I’ve had my eyes on Cian ’Moose’ Megannety’s output for a while. In truth I was just biding my time until these were finally available closer to hand - and that’s exactly the case now. Since my good friend Joe Light from Joe’s Pedals has picked up this range.
5 Pedals are currently available on the Joe’s Pedals Webstore - and all are sill in stock as of my writing this. The gold-hued Electric Elk caught my eye in particular - which I thought for sure was based on the Japanese Triangle Muff style Elk Sustainar - but no - it is rather based on a mix to the Ram’s Head Muff, and the Sovtek Black Bubble Font / Black Russian variant. That’s going to be my first Moose pedal - and I should have ordered that by the time this article goes live.
There are definitely some intriguing pedals in the mix here - I also like the look of the Brass Neck Germanium Diodes Boost / Overdrive - which will probably be my next acquisition - early next year no doubt.

Brass Neck Germanium Diodes Dirty Boost / Drive - €199 / £179
Controls - Volume, Gain, Treble, Bass.
A highly versatile - gorgeously textured Boost / Overdrive - with Two pairs of Germanium diodes on board. I'm definitely getting this one next year - will most likely be my second Moose Electronics acquisition. Simple 4-knob control topology - but potent - and versatile!
Solar Molasses Drone Reverb - €259 / £229

Controls - REVERB } Master, Mix, Tone, Dwell, Bypass / On Footswitch; DRONE } Dirt, Volume, On Switch, Dron / Tone, Drone Footswitch.
The newest kid on the block - an intriguing Drone-Verb with 8 controls and dual footswitches. Less useful for me as it seems to be a mono only variant - and I typically favour Stereo Spatial Effects! Still sounds very decent! Not yet decided whether this one is one for me!

Electric Elk Ram's Head x Black Russian Muff Fuzz - €199 / £179
Controls - Volume, Fuzz, Mids, Tone.
With 4 x High Gain BC549C Transistors onboard - essentially modern variants of the classic BC109's. I felt for sure this would be inspired by the Japanese Elk Sustainer - while no - it's rather inspired By both The Black Bubble Font Sovtek and Ram’s Head Muff variants. I have something like 115 Muffs in the reference collection - but I do really like decent sounding Big Muffs - particularly 4-knob variants with a Mids Sweep Control. This is my first Moose Electronics pedal - which I will have ordered before this aricle goes live!
Sundrive High End Soft-Clipping Opamp Overdrive with Matamp GT120 Tone Controls - $199 / £179
Controls - Volume, Clip : Vintage / Modern Crunch / Asymmetric, Gain, Treble, Bass, On Footswitch; BOOST } Boost Level, Boost Footswitch.
A super versatile and potent every-day Soft-Clipping Overdrive with Matamp G120 Tone Controls. Super versatile and with a huge gain range for all kinds of applications. This one has extensive clipping options and a separate Boost Control and Footswitch. Versus the 3-Band Semi-Parametric EQ of the below Cosmic Trigger. It's difficult to decide which one of those two is the better choice - this one is slightly smoother and more vintage inspired - while the Cosmic Trigger - is a little more quick and dirty - and more garage-style - rawer and punkier!
Cosmic Trigger MK2 Preamp Drive (Traynor TS50 x Acoustic 360) - €259 / £229
Controls - Volume, Mid Frequency, Gain, Treble, Middle ±, Bass, On Footswitch, Boost Footswitch.
A really handy 3-Band EQ / Semi-Parametric Mids Overdrive - with a tone of rage. I would imagine the Boost Footswitch is connected to some sort of internal Level Trimmer - that would make most sense. The Traynor tonality is a little more raw and ragged - sort of garage-punky - verse the soft clipping of the Sundrive. Both are compelling candidates - and it's tricky for me to device between those two models - each has elements I really like!
