Key Points

KMA Machines’ Bloodstone Edition Chief Disruptor is a blackout colourway limited to 100 units; internals identical to the original Chief Disruptor (an evolution of the Dead Stag).

Big Muff–style fuzz/distortion with switchable 3‑way gain (Vintage/Tight/Heavy), pre/post Clean Blend, active Bass/Treble, parametric Mid EQ (foot-switchable, frequency and internal Q control), Top Boost (On/Off), External Expression input, relay soft‑switching. Works equally well on bass; made in Berlin.

Powered by 9 V DC (centre‑negative, 2.1 mm), >160 mA. As of 2026-07-16, the price was £159; available only from the KMA Machines webstore.

This is one of my two most favoured extended range Muffs - alongside TX Pedals’ Animalizzer. I first reviewed the Chief Disruptor back in January of 2022 - where that was a massively evolved and improved take of its Dead Stag Predecessor.

This new Bloodstone Edition has the exact same insides as the original Chief Disruptor - just with that more doomy all-black / blackout Bloodstone colourway - which some will undoubtedly prefer. I’m of course tempted, but I’m loath to double down on pedals I already have - when my infinite wishlist is as long as it is. I actually still really love my original colourway artwork - and would struggle with choosing between that and this black edition - both are worthy!

Controls - Voicing / Gain Structure : Tight / Vintage / Heavy, Lows, Highs, Blend Order : Pre-EQ / Post-EQ, Master Volume (Level), Disruption (Gain), Clean Blend, Mids Cut / Boost, Top Boost : Off / On, Mids Frequency, Mids On Footswitch, Engage / Bypass Footswitch.

You get vastly extended EQ here compared to the typical muff - including Parametric Mids, and placement of those in the signal chain. Also 3-way Gain Structure, Clean Blend, and Top Boost - and with the Mids foot-switchable too for a sort of solo boost action.

All-round a fantastic extended range Big Muff - which works equally great on Bass!

Pricing is discounted too - at just €179 / $219 / £159 / $249 CAD / $349 AUD - only available direct from the KMA Machines Webstore!

With only 100 units available - these are likely to be snapped up really quickly! So best get your skates on if you want one!
