Roland slays the competition with its new TR-1000 Rhythm Creator Drum Machine - which combines Analog TR-808 and TR-909 Engines with Digital ACB, FM, VA and PCM Engines - with Sampling and Morphing also!

Occasionally something so innovative materialises - that it transcends boundaries. And while this is of course massively and mostly a pedal blog - I do also have time for innovations in related fields too.
I’m not going to go into too much detail here beyond the Specs! - you just need to watch the demos to be convinced.
What Roland has achieved with the TR-1000 is utterly magnificent - in combining full vintage style analog circuits with cutting edge digital ones - giving you the key original flavours of the legendary TR-808 and TR-909 in one box and so much besides.
There are so many smart things that you can do with his Rhythm Creator Workstation - it will lead us into the next generation of beat-makers.
While I would mostly be trying to recreate the rhythm tracks of Prince’s 2 most legendary albums - Purple Rain, and Sign of the Times! (Which yes I know used the Linn Drum! But I’m mostly a Boss / Roland guy!)
This is a magnificent technical achievement - and for sure the competition will be trying to roll out something similar in a year or two - including of course arch plagiarists Behringer.
As I’m still hot on the track of an almost infinite wishlist of pedals - it’s very unlikely that I grab one of these any time soon.
With a pricetag of $2,699 / €2,699 / £2,279 - I would definitely need to save up - I quite want a Jupiter-X too!
In any case - props to Roland for achieving the almost impossible - what a machine!
