JHS Pedals' latest Flight Delay is a distillation of Josh's 3 favourite delay pedals

JHS’s new Flight Delay covers Josh’s 3 all-time favourite Delay Pedals / Effects. The Electro-Harmonix Memory Man [Analog], Line 6 DHL4 Reverse (Reverse), and Boss DD-5 (Digital).

The pedal is very clearly laid out - with mostly Delay Elements on the Left, and Modulation on the Right.

Controls - DELAY } Mix, Repeats, EQ, Time (50ms > 1000ms), Divisions : Quarter / Eighth / Dotted Eighth, Mode : Analog / Reverse / Digital, Bypass Footswitch, Tap Tempo Footswitch; MODULATION } Mod Rate, Mod Depth, Mod Type : Chorus / Off / Vibrato.

Rear Ports - Mono In, Mono Out, TAP / EXP.

You get Tap Tempo with 3 divisions, and 2 different Modulation Types, alongside an Off switch.

You also have a cool EQ control which helps you to accentuate or otherwise dampen and darken the repeats.

This is a really simple and elegant delay - which covers a fair amount of ground in a fairly streamlined fashion. It’s decently priced too at $249 / £195.

It’s a little simplistic for my own needs, and obviously a Mono device - which is not really compatible with my own rig, while I can appreciate a lot would love to have this particular mix of delay effects.

I’m not aware of this particular mix of classic delays in a similarly compact unit - this is a smart execution for sure - and I would definitely be considering it if were stereo, while its mono nature means that it’s definitely not really for me.
