I first made contact with Mr.MojoFX right at the end of last month. They are a Barcelona-based collective which make 3D-Printed music accessories in full-colour plastics - including a very fetching and imaginative range of Footswtitch Toppers - in 3 series - Vintage Tech, Munchies, and  Masks.

I was given the choice of which Series I liked - and per the cover picture I went for the Vintage Tech Series - which includes a Jukebox, Ghettoblaster, Compact Cassette, Record Deck, and Fake News TV.

Each of those Toppers goes for €6 /  $8 / £6 - and each collection of 5 is therefore  €30 / $40 / £30.

Each Topper has a Set Screw - so you can tighten it around the average footswitch. The Poly Effects footswitches have too much girth - those were the only pedals so far that I could not fit these standard aperture Toppers on - no doubt there will be other exception - which I shall advice on as soon as those facts are known!

Oh and they have the most amazing tactile feel - very solid plastics used which feel great under the finger. While these toppers are kind of the opposite of "Barefoot Buttons’ as many of these have slightly sharp edges - within their natural shapes.

More about the manufacturing process later on in the article!

How Mr.MojoFX makes its Toppers

  1. Ideation team comes up with a new theme
  2. In-house artist sketches out rough designs
  3. Prototyping takes place to figure out the ideal shape and size for each Topper - Prototypes printed in single colour
  4. Series of iterations to perfect the core Raw 3-D Printer Output
  5. Once format is settled on - Toppers are printed in full colour
  6. Some of those Toppers may then be further hand-finished as necessary - but mostly just a case of the occasion touch-up!
  7. Each Topper is prepped and loaded with set screw for tightening purposes
  8. Toppers are shipped out in Eco-friendly packaging, with included note, sticker, and Allen key - for set screw purposes

Here below we indicate some of those key steps. followed by an 'About' section - that they provided for these purposes - and in their own words.

About Mr.MojoFX - in their own words

In their own words - as "indicated" :

"SLOGAN

  • Sonic Crafts Beyond Accessories"

"BRAND DESCRIPTION

  • Mr.MojoFx creates bold, small-batch 3D-printed gear in unique collections—turning your music hardware into a work of art and sound."

"DETAILS

  • We are a small, family-owned business based in Barcelona, Spain.
  • From our workshop, we ideate, design, and manufacture all our products, create our own branding, and handle all photo and video shoots in-house.
  • Most ideas start as a quick sketch in our notebook during a train ride. From that 2D drawing, we use various 3D software tools to bring the concept to life.
  • We run a small 3D printing farm equipped with top-tier machines and carefully selected, tested materials—allowing us to achieve a 3D printed result that looks and feels like a hand-crafted piece of plasticine.
  • Each piece is then finished by hand and fitted with a screw.
  • Our packaging follows the same philosophy: we use craft paper envelopes and include a note, each one individually hand-stamped (and yes, we make the stamps ourselves).
  • Since we own 100% of our process and equipment, we’re able to offer custom work—collaborating with other makers and artists.
  • We’ve got a lot of exciting projects rolling in the background that we can’t talk about just yet, but we can reveal that they include a collaboration series with an incredible 2D artist, a few custom pieces for musicians, and even a new product line that goes beyond the pedalboard crowd."
