So the Kilter is a unique Modulator which modulates 2 Insert Loops - back and forth, and where you set the waveform for that modulation, the speed of back and forth transition, and the Blend / Mix between those two signals. On its own it can be used as a very unique Tremolo / Ring Mod - wile the more interesting stuff happens when you have 2 different pedals loaded in Loop A and B!
What’s new in V2?
Controls - Space (Speed of A↔B Modulation / Transition), Time (Blend / Separation of A&B Signals), Loop B Level, Loop A Level, Waveforms : Ramp Up / Ramp Down / Square / Triangle / Sine / Sweep / Random Levels / Random Slope, Loop A↔B Order, Tap-Tempo Footswitch, Bypass Footswitch.
Ports : 9V DC [-] 45mA, Time (Rate) Expression, Space (Depth) Expressions, Input, Loop A : Return, Send, Output, Loop B : Return, Send.
It’s a much more practical and handy pedal in this format - and is a really unusual combination of channel mixer and modulator.
The end result of deploying the Kilter often results in somewhat unusual and experimental sounds - while that of course depends on the nature of the inputs. It does to a sort of Tremolo and Ring Modulation by default wholly stand-alone - but it outputs in a much more even fashion - and you don’t suffer the typical volume drop of a traditional tremolo or ring mod - as it’s not so much varying the amplitude of the modulation - but the A↔B Back & Forth transitions.
It sits very nicely within the quirky side of Champion Leccy - and this is probably more intended for the more experimental players, while all can make use of it. It’s a genuinely unique and distinct effect - and entirely sits within that typical Champion Leccy slightly quirky DNA!
The V2 Kilter is available from the Champion Leccy Webstore for $265 and equivalent, and comes in 4 colourways - including the Red Knob ’Universe’ Sparkle Black pictured, also in Pink, and Yellow, and in a variation of ’Universe’ with purple knobs. I generally find that stock ’Universe’ Kilter the most striking as all the colours stand out nicely in contrast to that black background!
This new format will open this pedal up to a lot more players - and I look forward to seeing what the more creative types do with it!
