Champion Leccy - aka Woolly, the king of whimsical pedal design, has delivered another really cool textural ambient pedal - which combines two his previous greats - the Skitter TremVerb / Verbolo, and Woozy Lo-Fi Pitch-Shifting SwayVerb.

It always takes a minute or two to figure out what’s going on with these pedals - as the control labels tend to be fairly whimsical too, while the breakdown on this occasion is actually pretty straight forward.

Controls - LFO } Space (LFO Depth), Time (LFO Speed), Waveforms : 1-8 (ramp up, ramp down, square wave, triangle, sine, sweep, random (levels)); DRY } Dry Level; TremVerb (Skitter) } TremVerb Level, Sway (TremVerb Voice) : UP SwayVerb / DOWN Natural, Trem (TremVerb Modulation) : UP Phase Cancellation Trem / MIDDLE Tremolo / DOWN No Tremolo; SwarVerb (Woozy) } Cheer (SwayVerb Voice) : UP Tape and LFO / MIDDLE LFO Only / DOWN No Tape No LFO, Hangover (SwayVerb Delay Time / Tape Range, Backwash (SwayVerb Feedback), SwayVerb (Pitch-Modulated Reverb Level); Left Footswitch : SwayVerb Feedback, Right Footswitch : Effect Bypass.

So essential One knob and 2 toggle-switches for the TremVerb-speficif functions, and 3 knobs and 1 toggle-switch for the SwayVerb functions - with SwayVerb Feedback also on the Left Footswitch.

Woolly is the master of these kinds of lo-fi woozy skittery ambient effects - and this is essentially giving you the best of his original classics - in a relatively easily palatable form. The fact that it’s a vertical BB-size enclosure - means that it’s about as pedalboard-friendly as it can be.

I believe this is mono output only, so not a threat really to my usual stereo Verbs, while I may still get this as the perfect encapsulation of this particular brand. This is such an obvious ambassador pedal!

I only have the Dunsh Fuzz to date from the Champion Leccy range - so this Skitzy would definitely be a good add for a Champion Leccy capsule collection.

The Skitzy is available for orders on the day of the article’s publication - i.e. Friday 23rd February, where it goes for $280 - from the Champion Leccy Webstore. Current draw is a very reasonable 200mA from a standard 9V DC [-] power supply. It initially comes in 3 colourways : Back, Seafoam, and Light Beige.

I feel Champion Leccy fans are really going to love this combination format!
