These 3 new pedals bring the JHS 3 Series roster to a very versatile 19 units. These 3 are a little more left-field and adventurous than the rest - and largely an acquired taste. I have a lot of time for Bitcrushers and Glitch Delays - and own a few of those varieties, while I’m a little less au-fait with Ring Modulators. Ringmods for me are often tremolos or vibratos gone wrong - but there are some handy examples of those which blend in gain and other complementary sounds to make more musical outputs.
These are unlikely to be the bestsellers within 3 Series Range - they’re largely the least vanilla of those varieties - and relatively few will gravitate to all of these. Obviously the noisier, more experimental player will have some capacity for these - but this is farm from the territory of your typical bluesman.
I own just one of the 3-Series to date - the Harmonic Tremolo - which is decent, but far from upper echelon. I actually prefer the standard Amplitude voicing on this one - I have several preferred Harmonic varieties - the 3-Series one is a little light-touch on that flavour. I have long intended to get more, but they overlap mostly with more high end pedals I already have in my collection.
I always thought these were great for dipping your toes into various areas - without having to invest massively - and if you really like a certain flavour or variant - you can then invest in a more full-fat and expansive variant of that type / genre.
I’m not sure any of these rank as must-haves for me - while I’m most likely to come form the Bit Crusher - that has some appeal for me. We shall see!
Further details on each below, including controls and demos!
You can read up more on the JHS Website.

Controls - Crush (Bit Depth 24 > 1), Sample Rate (2.5Hz > 33kHz), Filter (Band-Pass), Type (Filter Character) : UP - Successive High-Pass & Low-Pass Sweep / DOWN - 2nd Order Low-Pass with no resonant peak.
A cool simple Bitcrusher with some added Filtering smarts - should be a lot of fun. Great if you want to dip your toes into this genre!
Controls - Glitch (Probability / Regularity) : 0 > 50%, Time : 20ms > 980ms, Repeats : never-runaway Modulation Feedback, Type / Mix : 35% / 80%.
Like the Bit Crusher - this is a great introduction to Glitchy Delay - 3 simple controls - and different degrees of Mix for subtle or more accented glitching.
Controls - Dry-Wet Blend, Frequency / Speed, Tweak : Auxiliary LFO Wobble, Mode : UP is Dan Armstrong Green Ringer / DOWN is Way Huge Ringworm.
Possibly the most 'acquired taste' of the 3 - I personally don't always get on with Rin Modulation - but some really like it - including my friend Henry Kaiser. I often think it works best in combination with other effects - like distortion for instance, for most players this can be like a Tremolo or Vibrato gone badly wrong - the sour milk of oscillation! You do thought get 2 of the most notable Ringers here - the Green Ringer, and the Ring Worm! So again a good introduction to the genre!
