This project was triggered by 29 Pedals wanting a stereo version of the Signal Blender for studio work. And the collaboration led to all manner of cool editions - including phase inversion and trails options for each of the 2 Parallel FX Loops.
Your core Clean / Dry Signal gets loaded into the In Clean port - and can be either TS or TRS, as can the Output. You then have A and B Send / Return FX Loops - which allow you to combine 2 further effects signal paths with the Main Clean input.
Controls - CLEAN > Level, Footswitch; LOOP A } Ø, Trails (On/Off), Footswitch A; LOOP B } Ø, Trails (On/Off), Footswitch B.
Rear Ports - In, Send A, Return A, Send B, Return B, MIDI In, MIDI Thru, Out, 9V DC [-] 500mA Current Draw.
It’s a little reminiscent of the EHX Tri Parallel Mixer in terms of its format - while that one is Mono only I believe. Back in 2020 when I first covered Parallel Blenders - I favoured the original OBNE Signal Blender, and TheGigRig’s Wetter Box - which does much of what this Stereo Blender does - but in a much neater compact enclosure. I had that one on the board for a short while - before switching to my current Cosmic Loop Parallelarator Wet-Dry-Wet Gateway Pedal.
This Stereo Signal Blender has a few cool tricks up its sleeve - including MIDI In and MIDI Thru ports - and some additional granularity.
It’s a cool device for sure - but a little on the large side for me. I’ve long said you need to find your own lane with these effects - and need to decide how much real estate you’e prepared to dedicate to each pedal / type. Space is at a premium for me - and I have no wish to take 2-3 effects off the board for the sake of this larger size format. For me the Wetter Box and Parallelarator are more practical and suitable candidates. While if space is not a finite commodity for you - you - then this Stereo Signal Blender does a few extra things compared to most of what is currently out there.
Obviously 29 Pedals has set out a proper studio style framework with real usage scenarios - and works really well for the purpose intended. There are smaller similar version as mentioned - but they don’t cover all the features that exist on this format!
