Key Points
Caroline Guitar Co.’s Aaron Graves Overdrive is a compact, stand‑alone version of the preamp heard in the Parabola Pawnshop Tremolo and the Météore Lo‑Fi Reverb, celebrating Aaron Graves and offering a warm, granular overdrive.
It provides 2x gain ranges, a 3‑way Bass control (Most Bass / Bass‑Cut / More Bass) and controls: Level, Hair/Gain, Tone, Voice — Preamp (higher gain, more compression) / Power‑Amp.
It goes for $199 on the Caroline Guitar Co. Webstore; no sign yet at UK dealers, with the piece saying it’s “hoping it will land this side of the pond soon.”
It seems quite timely that I just recently covered off the Caroline Parabola Pawnshop Tremolo - with its lush, warm-sounding higher gain preamp. Apparently the very same preamp that’s also in the Caroline Météore Lo-Fi Reverb. Caroline Guitar wisely decided to give this excellent preamp a solo outing!
So this new overdrive pedal further celebrates and honours Aaron Graves, who has long been associated with the brand. We get quite a beautifully warm and granular overdrive here with 2 x gain ranges, and a 3-way Bass control.
Controls - Level, Hair/Gain, Tone, Voice : Preamp (higher gain, more compression) / Power-Amp, Bass : Most Bass / Bass-Cut / More Bass.
I’ve long been saying that Caroline should do the occasional ’Compact’ edition, and here is exactly that! I’ve really enjoyed using the core to this voicing on my Parabola Pawnshop Tremolo - and would be very happy to own a more expansive and granular take - as indeed the Aaron Graves Overdrive very much is!
The Aaron Graves Overdrive goes for $199 and equivalent on the Caroline Guitar Co. Webstore - I’m hoping it will land this side of the pond soon. No sign yet at any of the UK dealers. This is definitely on my acquisitions list - while I will for sure be covering the Somersault next, in terms of a review - and then hopefully this one soon after!
It’s nice to see that we have a Caroline Guitar Co. Compact at last! While I’ve grown really fond of the core 1590BB style portrait format of the Classic Caroline Pedals. Seems like Philippe is most definitely on a roll these days! The Aaron Graves will very likely be my 7th from that stable!
