Caroline has significantly ramped up its Kilobyte Lo-Fi Delay with a much more expansive and granular 8 controls topology.
At its core this has a PT2399 chip with an official maximum factory delay time of 300ms. While that has been ’stretched’ and filtered to deliver the 500ms+ Lo-Fi delay variation. Caroline deliberately doesn’t provide max delay time - as it can vary enormously from just over 500ms to more than 800ms.
Controls - Level, Sharpness (Most Lo-Fi CCW), Preamp / Saturation, Havoc Level, Modulation Level, Time (500ms+), Tap Division : Dotted Eighth / Quarter / Triplet, Repeats, Bypass Footswitch, Tap Tempo / Havoc Footswitch.
The original device had just 5 controls - where the latest iteration adds controls for Sharpness (Max Lo-Fi CCW), Havoc Level, and Tap Divisions : Dotted Eighth / Quarter / Triplet.
The Kilobyte 2000 is a core Mono Delay - with a single TRS socket FX / Insert Loop. So not particularly suitable for my significantly stereo rig - while this has always been one of the great sounding Lo-Fi delays - which is even more expansive now, and includes also a Tap Tempo remote port - for if you want even further separation between your footswitches.
I’ve labelled all the controls in the above visual - where this device has a very minimal 60mA current draw.
Everything here is very straightforward - you just have more controls now - to more finely shape this pedal’s output.
The Kilobyte 2000 Lo-Fi Tap Delay is available right now on the Caroline Guitar Webstore, and at International Dealers - where it goes for $279 and equivalent (£299 in the UK).
