Alexander Pedals further evolves and perfects its Syntax Error Computer Audio System - now in V3 XP compact Leap Series Edition

In the visual you can see the Three Versions of the Syntax Error. The Original compact came out during Summer NAMM back in 2017. I did a number of features that included that pedal - and it was a target for me for the longest time - but for whatever reason - I never quite managed to acquire one of those.
Then in 2021 we got the larger V2 edition with Screen - which I considered a little large for my need - for such a niche pedal.
And now in 2026 Alexander has finally delivered the perfect version for me - which combines the best elements of the two previous editions in a practical compact format.
The Leap Series pedals allow you to adjust 4 onscreen parameters at a time with the 4 parameters appearing in the 4 corners of the screen - nearest to each knob. You can then press / click on the bottom right knob to page through different menu options.
There are 8 Sound Modes as follows :
- STRETCH — Glitchy buffer madness: records your signal and plays it back at variable speed and direction for dialup tones, twisted echoes, and laser bird chaos.
- AIR — Simulates early low-memory rack reverbs with added sample-crush dirt, pitch shifting, and grainy diffusion textures.
- RING — Ring modulator ranging from tremolo to gonging robot sounds, with a sample & hold that randomizes the carrier for unpredictable space-droid weirdness.
- CUBE — Digital distortion via math, paired with a resonant filter for dialling in everything from subtle grit to genuinely gruesome tones.
- FREQ — Frequency shifter (not pitch shifter) that applies a fixed Hz offset, producing phaser-like tones, cascading echoes, or straight-up out-of-tune madness depending on feedback settings.
- WAVE — FM-style modulation that warps your signal’s frequency, landing anywhere between vibrato and clangy percussive mess; especially interesting with drum machines.
- GLITCH SHIFT — Pitch shifting with all the safety rails removed, plus a BARF control that introduces artifacts no well-behaved pitch shifter could produce.
- DYNAMIC — Envelope-controlled sample crusher that automatically adjusts sample rate based on your playing volume, with separate rate targets for quiet and loud signals.
You have 32 Presets (4 banks of 8) to make the pedal easy to deploy. You also have Expression and Ramping with a versatile MultiJack for further expression control etc.. TRS Stereo In and Left + Right Stereo Out.
There is an additional AlExpander Remote Foot Controller ($40) to give you A / B / C control options / preset scrolling. You advance presets by holding down the Right Footswitch, and Pressing both Footswitches will roll the Presets back the other way!
Controls - Param A, Param B, Param C, Param D / CTRL / PAGE / MENU, Left TAP / CTRL Footswitch, Right Bypass / Preset Footswitch.
