The Ian Thornley Signature Thornicus Dual Channel Fuzz / Octave Fuzz seems to be only the second circuit to use the same enclosure format as its Discovery Analog Delay - with a stupid portion at the front which features the footswitches.
It’s interesting that the Fuzz and Octave Fuzz have wholly identical independent controls - 2 x Sustain, Mids, Level, Tone. With independent footswitches per channel also!
The Thornicus Fuzz seems a little oversized for my preferences, and part of me feels that this could have been done in a more compact and smarter edition. But it is still worthy of consideration. I’ve not fully made up my mind yet - while I typically don’t go for larger enclosure variants.
At the other extreme we have a new Mini Brighton Treble Booster - presumably silicon loaded, this has Bass, Body, and Range controls, with a ’Smooth’ toggle switch up top. For sure a handy take on that format - in a sort modern Union Jack livery.
Pricing on the Thornicus is at $329 / £329 and equivalent, and the Brighton is at $149 / £149.
Both models appear to be fairly widely available - at the usual dealers.
If I get either of those - it’s likely to be Brighton. While the Thornicus is still commendable. We shall see what transpires!
Seems like we only have a demo for the Thornicus so far - I will update as and when a Brighton demo emerges!
