Key Points

Mooer Meta FX is a stereo multi‑FX workstation with three swappable firmware families (Reverb, Delay, Mod) via Mooer Studio. Reverb, demoed by Mike Hermans/Andertons, claims over 40 algorithms per family; Reverb currently lists 14: Room, Hall, Church, Cave, Plate, Spring, Mod, Studio, Reverse, Warp, Shake, Crush, Shimmer, Dream.

Hardware: 1.28‑inch capacitive round touchscreen, four knobs, two footswitches, dual 6.35mm TRS ins/outs, 3.5mm headphone with level, USB‑C (MIDI/software/power), TRS‑MIDI, 9V DC 300mA or USB‑C, 125×74×49mm, ~230g, 100 user presets, Infinite mode.

As of 2026-07-13, the price was £149 in the UK. For electrical safety or opening/modifying, consult a qualified tech.

So this edition, as demo’d by Mike Hermans - is in effect a massive upgrade on the 14 Mode Mooer R7 X2 Reverb which I have and love, with the same 14 Algorithms being :

  • Room  Hall | Church | Cave | Plate | Spring | Mod | Studio | Reverse | Warp | Shake | Crush | Shimmer | Dream

Obviously for the R7 X2 you have limited onboard controls, while on the Meta FX you can not only access Level, and 3 Quick Access Params - Decay, PreD, and HCut, but you can tap the screen to access the full range of parameters, including ones like :

  • Mod Rate | Mod Depth | Mod Level

You need to get used to using the left knob to set levels and param values - you tap, scroll, and then tap on the appropriate param level bar on the screen - and then apply the level knob - rinse and repeat!

For the quick-access controls you press-hold one of the 3 small buttons and ajust the Level at the same time for Decay, Pre-Delay, and Hi-Cut.

It all looks pretty intuitive in Mike Hermans’ below demo.

Mike Hermans and Andertons are pretty much ahead of the game here - as the only ones featuring the pedal so far. All you have on Mooer is the Meta FX Mac and Windows App Downloads. No product reference yet, and no manual - so my only analysis has to be extrapolated from the Mike Hermans and Andertons details - along with my experience of the R7 X2.

If you liked the R7 X2, then this is a prettier and more expansive / more refined version of that really - where you can also download Delay Workstation or Modulation Workstation Firmware - only one can be loaded / deployed at a time - so I might eventually buy a 3 of those pedals - one for each Genre type. The other 2 Firmware downloads are based on the X2 D7 Delay, and I guess evolved in part from the Mooer Mod Factory. There weirdly isn’t a M7 X2, but there are several Modulation Algos on Mooer’s various Multi-FX Pedals - including the Mooer Prime M2. I must say I much prefer the control interface on this Meta FX!

It looks like the Reverb Firmware is the first out the door, details on the other two are still scant - while we pretty much know what’s likely in the Delay Firmware release.

There is a lot of mention that there are supposed to be 40 Algorithms per Genre / Effect Family, while I haven’t seen proper evidence of that yet - as Mike Hermans just refers to the same 14 Algos that are on the R7 X2 :

Regular Algorithms :

  • Room | Hall | Church | Cave | Plate | Spring | Mod

More Specialist Algorithms :

  • Studio | Reverse | Warp | Shake | Crush | Shimmer | Dream
