I’ve been highly critical of Warm Audio in the past - culminating in my red-line critique of some serious Trade Dress violations - for its Mutation Phasor II, ODD and Warmdrive pedals - those were definitely out of line, and over the line! And contrasted significantly with their opening flurry of Centavo, Jet Phaser, and Foxy Tone Box - which I felt were sufficiently differentiated - making for proper Tributes and Riff-offs of those original themes - versus more of a Rip-Off for the Phasor II, ODD, and Warmdrive.
Here for the latest batch - I feel their Tube Screamer and Dual Bluesbreaker type Pedals are again sufficiently differentiated to quality for tribute versus plagiarism status.
And while the aforementioned trio remains off-limits for me - the 2 new ones are fair game - and actually bring something new and innovative to the table - which I’m entirely in favour of!
Controls - Drive, Level, Mix, Tone, Voice : 808 / TS10 / TS9, Pickups : Humbuckers (2kHz) / Single Coils (800Hz).
"The WA-TS has three distinct circuit paths for the 808, TS9, and TS10 settings. All three modes share the same tone stage using the JRC4558. TS9 setting has its own drive stage using the JRC4580, While the 808 and TS10 share the same drive stage, TS10 has an extra resistor added just like the original design."
$149 is a decent price for an extended-range Screamer - just $5 more than for the single-mode Ibanez TS808 Tube Screamer Overdrive Pro! The WA-TS Tube Squealer is available from the Warm Audio Webstore.
Formula B has the That Screamer Overdrive Pro 4558 - which also features the 3 classic Screamer Voicings - while hat one has just the classic 3 knob design, and not the Mods that appear on the Warm Audio candidate.
I don’t really need another Tube Screamer - but I would happily receive the WA-TS Tube Squealer into the GPX Reference Collection! Very cool shade of green on the enclosure too!
