As with all Phase 3 Evolutions - this Imperivm is a significantly more attractive pedal - while it does drop the Mids switch we had on the previous version which came out at the end of 2022. The new Imperivm is perfectly aesthetically balanced - and Emilio further underlines his position as creator of the most consistently eye-candy pedals. Of his previous editions I always felt that the Imperivm was the most striking - but this new version goes way beyond that.

I wonder if we get an updated Gladio SC next - as per the right-hand channel of this Dual Overdrive - as we’ve already had a killer Phase 3 version of the Antique Screamer. Would be great to have a Phase 3 Gladio SC too. And I would probably favour using my Phase 3 Antique with said Gladio SC versus having them both contained in this one device - although I really like this Imperivm too. Readers should know by now that I typically favour compact editions.

I’ve been chasing up Emilio every few weeks for updates on the forthcoming Paul Davids signature Nucleo Atomic Reverb - which has been much delayed. I was sure that would be the next release - but Paul Davids is such a perfectionist that there are still tiny tweaks ongoing, even thought the technical side has long been signed off by now.

This Imperivm kind of got lost in the mix for Emilio and me - as he forgot to send me one, and then forgot to send me the usual references even.

I grabbed my image from a Japanese site - and it’s been much manipulated to bring out all the details of said pedal - with that beatiful geometric pattern engraved facia plate. And we’re seeing all the usual fine touches we now associate with this Phase 3 Generation.

Controls - ANTIQUE (Screamer) } Volume, Gain, Presence, Tone, Comp, Antique Footswitch; GLADIO (Dumble) } Gain, Volume, Comp, Tone, Clean (Blend), Gladio Footswitch; Order : A>B / A

Ports - new for this edition we have separate In & Out for each circuit.

The topology is very straightforward - beautifully symmetrical and delineated. It’s a benchmark for pedal design for sure. It looks utterly gorgeous.

It’s rich looks carry an appropriate price tag - and this goes for €359 and equivalent (circa £309 / $417) ± taxes and shipping obviously. The first batch is available direct from the Cornerstone Webstore - I’ve done a cursory scan of the usual dealers - and it doesn’t seemed to be stocked by any of those yet!

I would love to get my hands on one of these! While overall I would probably prefer to use individual Phase 3 Antiques and Gladios. There were lots of you that loved the original - and I’m sure there’s going to be even more demand for this incredibly striking new edition!
