There is of course a decent amount of sharing between Boutique Amps Distribution brands, and the Tone King Imperial Floor Amp owes everything to Friedman’s IR Platform - upon which it is built.

Obviously it’s been tuned to replicating Tone King’s Amps, first the Imperial, and then the Royalist. Each of those have different parameters in accordance with their source amps - and are built up on very similar circuits - but somewhat miniaturised.

The Imperial Floor Amp has already been a resounding success - and was a major bestseller last year - probably the best selling of all the floor amps released in recent memory. I still feel that the Imperial will be somewhat more favoured because of its inclusion of Reverb and Tremolo.

The Imperial is mostly Fender-eque, while the royalist is a classic confection of the most popular Marshall amps. Both have compelling reasons for acquisition. And I feel both will sell really well - possibly with the Imperial slightly in the lead!

The Royalist is priced the same as the Imperial - $599 / €699 / £599 - and is the perfect way to get killer tube amp tones in the most accessible format. This is an amp you can easily take on the road with you - and it syncs well with most venue PA systems and similar! Available at all the key dealers - including Sweetwater, Thomann and Andertons.

As a portable amp and a recording platform - these Tone King Floor Amps really excel. They deliver some of the most authentic Tube Tones out there - and are commendably affordable and eminently usable.

Royalist Main Controls - CHANNEL 1 } Reverb, Attenuation, Treble, Middle, Bass, Volum, Cab x 3, MODE : 1964 JTM45 / 1967 Plexi / 1970 Super Lead, Fat Switch; CHANNEL 2 } Reverb, Attenuation, Treble, Middle, Bass, Volum, Cab x 3, ODE : 1964 JTM45 / 1967 Plexi / 1970 Super Lead, Fat Switch.

Imperial Main Controls - REVERB } Reverb, Dwell, TREMOLO } Depth. Speed, RHYTHM CHANNEL } Attenuation, Bass, Treble, Volume, Cab x 3; LEAD CHANNEL }  Attenuation, Bass, Treble, Volume, Cab x 3.

Rear Panel - Input, Send, Left, Right, To Amp In, From Amp Send, To Amp Return, Headphones, Balanced XLR Out - Left & Right, Ground Lift, MIDI In, USB-C, 9-12V DC 9W.

I’m not sure one of these is in my path imminently - but when I return to recording it they will surely be prime candidates. Bootique Amp Distribution seems to be somewhat on a roll these days - with a number of innovative new offerings - several of which we are waiting on the final details - before I can publish anything of substance!

I criminally overlooked the Imperial last year, and am therefore getting in early on the cycle this year for the equally excellent Royalist!
