I have and love my Shnobel Daily Driver pedal - and had long intended to get the enhanced Daily Driver Boost Version - which adds in a smart Clean Boost and Order Switch. I had intended to get a white edition of that for a while which hasn’t happened yet!
When I first saw the Dumbbell Driver from afar - I thought it somewhat reminiscent of the Cosmodio Instruments modification of JHS’s NOTADÜMBLË and Blammo Electronics’ TNYDÜMBLË - which I own - both 6-knob variants - with 2 banks of 3 controls for separate Drive and Boost, and then an additional Order toggle-switch. On first encounter the Dumbbell Driver looked to be a variant of that - but you quickly note the standard 5 controls of the Daily Driver - that I’m so familiar with.
So I will pivot rather to this version of Daily Driver Boost - with that more high-fidelity Dumble textured 2-knob Boost - versus the 1-knob variant of the unadulterated Daily Driver Boost. So this is a timely arrival for me - as I would probably be a little miffed if I had the standard Daily Driver Boost - and then this one came along - it make for a more versatile and shapeable pedal.
This particular confection is really very smartly done! It’s a very distinct variant of Dumble Drive.
Controls - DAILY DRIVER : Volume, Gain, Hi-Cut, Low, High, DUMBBELL BOOST : Input, Level; ORDER : Drive First / Boost First.
We seemed to be in another Dumble era - where we are seeing a number of new Dumble Drive variants - and this one is one of the most intriguing for me.
I’ve long since detailed how versatile the Daily Driver is - and how you can turn that to so many different sounds. I so love that pedal - that it was a cert that I would eventually get in a variant of the enhanced Daily Driver Boost - and this Dumbbell Driver seems to be the perfect candidate.
Andertons used to stock the full Shnobel Tone Range - while now they have just a single Horse Power Overdrive in stock - seems they are abandoning the brand!
I will have to go direct to Shnobel Tone in the USA - to acquire my Dumbbell Driver - where it goes for $329 and equivalent. You also have the option to just buy the 2-knob Dumbbell Boost on its own! I personally would rather have the all-in-one full fat Dumbbell Driver!
