Blind Panic Devices’ Matt is a total original - and he makes effects pedals wholly distinct from anything out there - both in look and function. His most recent creation is the nuclear reactor style signal obliterating fuzz. This is far from your classic fuzz pedal, and more akin to the like of the FY-2 Companion Fuzz - but even more aggressive and signal shredding.
Controls - Level (Volume), Energy (Input Level), Fission (Gain Filter), Active EQ : Bass + Treble, Degree of Destruction : GREEN CP-1 (200W) / YELLOW X-10 (400kW) / ORANGE K25 (Uranium 235) / RED AP1000 (1117mW), Meltdown Stabilize (Green Mode only), Fusion Footswitch (Meltdown), Bypass (Power Up).
This is the kind of fuzz that’s up for a tussle - you need to try and tame its power - or it will blow you away. It’s the equivalent of a wild and wayward joy-ride - which has you hanging on for dear life. This is most definitely not your daddy’s fuzz.
I love pedal innovation - and there’s so much to admire here - in terms of the look, and feel and functional layout. Also the overarching theme is wholly on point. This really is an incredibly release!
When I first saw it at this weekend’s Leeds Pedal Show - I initially did not know how to react to it - I had to go away and process what I had seen - and a single overnight sleep woke me up to the beautiful noise-making potential of this pedal. I own over 700 fuzzes - and this is an entirely new variety for the collection. I always refer to myself as a noise maker - who just happens to have the guitar as his weapon of choice. And the Reactor Fuzz is a super-charged take on your noisiest most unruly and violently destructive fuzz. That’s why you have 2 controls specifically to tame this beast - the Fission Gain Filter control, and the Fusion Meltdown Stabilise control - which only works on the Green Fusion Mode - once you go Red you unleash the pedal’s full destructive power - and there’s no tempering that!
This pedal is original, fun and challenging all in one - with a unique and arresting look. It kind of slaps you in the face - but in a good way. Now that I have had time to process it all - I can see that this is clearly a perfect effect for me.
There’s lots of players out there that are not genuine fuzz fans - and they need to temper their fuzz into an overdrive or other pedal - to soften the attack - while this is one for the proper high octane fuzz fanatics - who love the full destructive raw nature of a fuzz - even in this wholly hyperbolic fashion.
The pedal already starts strong on CP1 Power Station Mode - and then just gets more and more extreme - I’m really excited now about getting my hands on this one. I feel it’s my destiny to join the fray in trying to tame this unstoppable beast of a fuzz - what an utterly delightful confection. I feel Matt has surpassed himself again.
The Destructive Reactor Fuzz can be yours for just £179 - which is supreme value. I was a little iffy about the form-factor originally (Horizontal layout), but I’ve ended up loving every part of this - it deserves to do really well!
Get yours now from the Blind Panic Devices Webstore - but he aware that many won’t be able to handle the extraodinary destructive power of this weapons-grade fuzz.
The Power Station lore here is genius - and here follow the further details on each of those 4 Power Station modes :
