This is the third Land Devices pedal I’ve covered on this site - after the HP-2 Percolator and Moonbow Filter / Overdrive.
I though that there were more stereo gain pedals around - but specifically for analog devices these are relatively rare. We of course have the original mid-size EHX Operation Overload which is definitely analog, as is the Montreal Assembly Too Positive (dual Hotcakes), but then also the OTO Machines BOUM Stereo Warming Unit which I’m not sure is entirely analog - same goes for the Kinotone Spark. And of course the recent Boss PX-1 Plugout FX delivers you 4 vintage Boss Overdrives and Distortions in full Stereo - but entirely digitally obviously!
And most of those stereo gain pedals I found tended to be Overdrives.
The Hunter came about through a specific need for a Land Devices customer - who was operating an all-stereo rig, and needed a stereo gain pedal also with Dry Blend - for which this Hunter Stereo Distortion was created.
Controls : Gain, Level, Dry/Wet Blend, Hi EQ, Lo EQ.
Control-wise the pedal is entirely intuitive - and since we only have single In and Out ports - presumably those are TRS therefore - for the Full Stereo connectivity.
I personally don’t have much of a need for a Stereo Distoriton - but it allows for some clever routing possibilities - so you can place the distortion pedal pretty much anywhere within the chain.
It certainly sounds very decent to me - and is unique enough to be a worthy target. I have this files as a nice-to-have still - but it’s good to know it exists for when I have a need for such an effect.
The Hunter Stereo Distortion is yours for $299 on the Land Devices Store.
